Making my own wall hung cabinet

I normally plant a piece of 15mm to the back and bottom of the cabinet and use a 18mm ply French cleat, that way you only get a small gap of 3mm ish at the back

    Osmo Top Oil Sanding Issue

I use a product called Woodoc quite a lot, actually prefer it to Osmo. They do a Matt finish, very easy to apply, I just use a cotton cloth, once dry de nib with wire wool and re-apply

    Rawlplug hollow wall plug issue

Was recommended a product called wet n fix, have used it a couple of times and seems to do the trick. Also may be worth looking at fisher duo guard plugs, don't often have the need for raw plugs but on the few occasions I have needed something for plaster board seem to work better than the metal...

Positioning of undermount runners inside the cabinet

I wish I could help with some technical advice, unfortunately I have literally just fitted 10 pairs of Movento tip on blu motion. Don't usually use runners if I can help it but the client wanted push to open soft close, the jigs are handy for time saving but as to spacings etc I found it the...

    Scam warning...

I had exactly the same, pressed 1 and within seconds a voice came on the line saying they were from Visa. Starting to ask some questions so I asked him what card he was referring to, he said my Nationwide account, don’t have one of those so after a few expletives I put down the phone. Thought I...

Scotland NHS ban Desflurane Anesthetic….why should you care? You should.

Yes everybody agreed, in theory but who is actually abiding by it. Think it was 20 odd new coal plants last yr and other 30 planned for this, and I am not just having a go at China that is also true of other emerging markets. I have a friend that works at the UN amongst other places, infinitely...

Scotland NHS ban Desflurane Anesthetic….why should you care? You should.

Just like the far East and other emerging countries will continue to use fossil fuels and Seemingly not give two hoots about climate change whilst they build their infrastructure to make everything we need. Unless the entire world agrees to change which is penalised for not adhering to we will...

    adhesive

If it helps I did something similar a few years ago, actually I didn’t replace as I couldn’t fathom a way to do it and guarantee it, compromise was take the plastic of the panel, re glue the edge, added a new panel onto existing, original was a white gloss and we added a complete contrast of oak...

    Material Thickness for Drawers

Unfortunately not! I am just about to price a job that will need most thicknesses bb/bb once I have the final dimensions I’ll let you know how I get on. For reference few weeks ago I was quoted £176 plus vat for 18mm

    Material Thickness for Drawers

If it helps, just made some at 980 x 400 x 250 used 15mm birch ply and 12mm bottoms with Blum runners, extremely sturdy, think I could have got away with 9mm bottoms but went for overkill to be on the safe side

Shipping heavy bulky wordworking projects to your customers?

If it helps, I have recently used a company called trans global express. Shipped display cabinets with glass front and glass shelves, said to the buyer expect the worst! Each cabinet with packaging came in at just over 35kg, from memory came in at £340 and this was to Connecticut, left me on the...

    trainee/apprentice opportunities?

If it helps I did exactly as Peter said a fair few years ago. (Apologies Peter, I did a course with John Lloyd, it was closer to home) then went and visited a few local companies, offered my services for free, which after a short period became paid, learnt a hell of a lot and now have a small...

    New company, new career

If you can do the school run I definitely would, my daughters friend, her Dad used to take her to school in his van, she hated it apparently but he said best bit of advertising and work he got was from doing it

    Veneer vacuum press advice

Do you have an air compressor at all? Only reason I ask is I bought this kit from Axminster(link attached), sure it could be done cheaper but I needed it asap and didn't have time to do my homework...

    Axminster or record power P/T

Have the Axi spiral cutter for my home shop, was a bit fiddly to set up originally but is a very good and much quieter machine than any knife block I have used. For long stock I just use a couple of roller stands and hasn't let me down yet. Did have the hammer A3 knife and imho the finish is...
