Does Builder need permission to connect new house to sewer on my land?

Im sure the developer isn’t profiteering at all and will be selling the houses for prices based on their costs rather than trying to get as much as possible? I’m also sure that if in the process of buying you failed to mention or negotiate a key point of the purchase they’d never hold your...

2020 Secret Santa ......and we're off!

I’m keen to participate again. The Mallet I received last year has had a fair bit of use, most recently tapping in some oak pegs for a new coat rack. cheers, Tom

Just Seen This in an Advert

The Omga positioners seem like the better solution to the problem but with a much heftier price tag

Very new and perhaps over ambitious.. need a rotating joint for wall light

Look up Anthony Gallo wall mount speaker brackets- they’re pretty neat and have the hole for wiring so that speaker cable fits. Instead of a speaker you can attach the light of your making

    Repurposing a blunt file?

If people have worn out old files they are still useful. The old Sheffield files from good makers are usually water hardening high carbon steel that can be great for forging as can be differential hardened with nice hamon.

Kitchen Knife Set - Recommendations Please?

Noticed you’re South Wales if you’re ever near Cardiff you could stop by and try out some of mine to see what you like profile wise. Japanese Carbon steel will give you the best price to performance ratio in your budget. With Damascus, unless you go for something like the Takamura or Saji pieces...

Attaching legs straight to the top without any subframe is unlikely to give the stability you’d want from a dining table, especially as the elm moves. You could still make the frame knock down and then attach the top using buttons I’m not a fan of Epoxy tables, but many are. Another way would...

i wish one day to be this good

Makes it even more praiseworthy that they did it with blunt tools (at that time barely anything to sharpen with had been invented).

    Wagyu

Luckily my butcher has his own herd and 2 dry aging cabinets. Means I can buy what I want and then age it. Aged a big sirloin on the bone last year for my birthday, barbecued on the kamado were easily the best steaks I’ve had. sous vide works for tender but doesn’t make up for flavour. Koji...

What do you reckon this stone is?

My first thought was Hindostan too

    Cooling tools when sharpening.

High speed steels have 2 tempering peaks the second usually giving more toughness at the expense of corrosion resistance. If you go over the second peak you will start to lose hardness, so you can overheat HSS but it takes a much higher heat to do At the temperature steel blues you’re still...

    Wagyu

My local butcher raises his own beef and has just added some wagyu to his herd. Looking forward to next year, though doubt it’ll reach the levels of marbling you see in Japan
