A fixture for mitred through dovetails (with a story).

Really neat work, and great seeing the jig making. Hadn’t thought of paring from the side but it does make sense now you show it

How To Deal With Split Blanks?

To my eye the crack isn’t big enough to get warm epoxy into, will need thin CA to wick its way in

    Homemade Kolrosing Knife

Very neat, seeing turned handles always makes me want a lathe

    Pressure Washer

I spent some time looking and decided I wanted to get something that would last. I went with a kranzle k7 and it has been fantastic. Everything is solid, it’s fairly quiet in use and has loads of power. Using a standard quick release coupling allows use of a wide range of accessories too...

Secret Santa 2022 - post your pictures here.

Absolutely over the moon with two very nicely (and accurately) made winding sticks. Guessing Sapele with maple inserts. Making a pair has been on my round to it list for a while and now can be taken off. Looking forward to get down to the workshop and dimension some boards. Many thanks Secret...

What is the optimum positioning of the universal support on Tormek Supergrind 1200

Grinding into the edge is quicker on the tormek and for turning tools you’ll want quick. Why not use the bench grinder kit on a bench grinder? Will enable use of a high speed grinder to set the profiles you want with the same jig settings and then move to the tormek to tidy up the edge and then...

    ANPR insurance issue

A few copies of the version of events to consumer watchdog type people and local news should kick the ball along. Police have a tough job to do, but should be held to account when they make a mistake and don’t rectify with the same haste as when they made it.

Any chance you’d consider posting at buyers risk?

    MIG versus TIG

Or the ghetto trick of sticking the rod, letting it heat up and drive off any moisture then unstick it and off you go- not that anyone sensible would advocate doing that…. My welding course got shuttered by covid so I bought a stick to carry on practicing with, don’t do regularly enough to get...

If I run a 100V japanese tool on 120V US electricity

It’ll likely be designed for +\- 10% anything above that could impact the circuit boards that won’t have been designed for the higher voltage. If I was a tool maker though I’d make it able to run on US and Japanese voltages to simplify manufacture - design for 110 and +/- 10% covers both regions

Choosing a Vice(Not the Naughty Type!)

I have a vice for vises I’d go second hand as you’ll get a lot more for your money and generally only need a clean and lubricating. The rotating vice you linked to is a knock off Swindens, these do hold their value so unlikely to get one super cheap- they are really nice though, and lock up...

Choosing a Vice(Not the Naughty Type!)

I’m not sure why you’re looking at metal work vices if you’re planning to do woodwork. Also without something sturdy to attach them to they won’t be much fun to use. For that sort of money something like a triton superjaw would give you work holding on a fairly stable platform - but does take...

I have a valet stand from a charity shop, works nicely as the inbetween zone
