Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

The big silky saws with coarse teeth are great for this, quick cutting, taper ground so no binding, a pretty good finish, the downside is the cost so depends how often you’ll be doing it. Have had my Ibuki for coming up to 10 years and is indispensable when needed.

    Impressive new tool

As said it seems to be a dro and stepper motors a bit like posh mitre saws have I don’t think it diminishes much skill if a computer moves the fence to 10mm from the cutter or I do it. The lack of flexibility to modify the programmes seems an oversight, being unable to easily do variable...

    what best to plant ...

If you keep chucking wildflower seeds on it and then letting them reseed, the varieties that like it will thrive. Is fairly cheap to by seed, can be sown by just scattering over surface so no planting per se, and good for wildlife etc. Otherwise I’d second cotoneaster. Will form a carpet and...

    Rawlplug hollow wall plug issue

If that’s not a stud wall the plugs used can’t expand Also if too close to a stud they can’t expand Another factor would be the thickness of the piece being attached may mean the fixing isn’t deep enough to allow the lugs to expand out behind the board If it was fully expanded I’d expect the...

    Plane Irons and ProEdge

Turn the blade 90degrees and you don’t have to worry about the width of the belt, just grind the bevel vertical. Means you can see the angle easily too. I use a belt grinder to remove the bulk and then set the edge bevel on stones. Once the edge bevel gets too wide I re grind on the belt...
