    the traditional grain direction allows . the handle to use the best feature of the wood - its strength in compression of the fibres in relation to the vector of the force applied. When in compression wood is around 15 times stronger than concrete

    If you are after a more substantial edge and fixing rather than just ironing on a thin edge band then look at fixing a solid wood lipping to the ply board. Consider using one of these types of router bit sets that will give a much better mechanical fixing along with a larger glue surface area...

    between sanding grits it's easier to use a hoover but for the final coat before finishing and between coats after denibbing they are a must. in a pinch a lint free cloth with a timy amount of vaseline worked in will do

    Hi and failte. I don't have a lathe personally but have successfully turned lots of lovely walnut, elm and oak into hamster bedding for the local kids and my neighbour's ferrets.
