Air source Heat Pumps any good?

that's still too hot, 16 C is ideal room temp for me CH set to come on at 14 and off at 18

    Potje Firebasket? Drilling cast iron?

very much the way you build a smokeless firepit. The idea being (I believe) the injection of the air at the top burns off any particulates preventing smoke.

    Track saw, on Aluminium sheet?

When I did both my router table tops (1 for Ktsu & 1 for Triton) I sandwiched the ali between some MDF as I found that you could get a bit of ragged swarf with the ali being soft and having MDF on both side gave a clean cut

Raised panel doors and yacht varnish tips for the weary.

Once the door is back together why not put a dowel through the M/T to keep it together

    Potje Firebasket? Drilling cast iron?

Before you drill it at least try making potjiekos, oxtail or beef and beer are my favourites. Oh and remember you never never ever stir once you put it on the coals

Raised panel doors and yacht varnish tips for the weary.

As the doors are outside have you considered using caustic soda to remove the paint. put it on early evening and remove the next morning. just pt some clingfilm if you have nothing else over it overnight. It will come off easily with a soft wire brush and then a hosedown and wipe off. If needed...

"Well, I woke up this mornin'..."

Mine (1865) states I can not operate a steam engine for any purposes in the garden (hence not a model engineer) nor can I conduct fishmongery from the front room but butchery appears to be allowed. The house on the corner of the street (was owned by a friend) has explicit permission to operate...

    Stanley or Record ?

Both were gifts, one from my dearest love on fathers day, Oscar my pooch (I suspect that SWMBO actually got it as we don't give him pocket money ) and one as part of my UKWSS one year. I enjoy using them both but really love my low angle 60 1/2, shiny gunmetal knob and all

    Stanley or Record ?

It's an odd thing, in my head I believe most of my planes to be Records with a Stanley #5 1/2 and then when asked, Record are stated as my prefered maker. However I have just become aware that all my metal "bench" planes used to prep, size and finish bits of wood into cuboids ready to make stuff...

Anyone tried this dowel maker from AliExpress?

would be better if it was 8/12/19mm, but just taking the dowelmaker idea into the 21stC using carbide cutters from a helix type head. Probably worth a if you can't be bothered to make your own

What is the most chatoyant wood?

In the Koa example above, the left hand 1/3 gives the effect of chatoyance I would be looking for in a piece being used for the hind 1/4s of a horse and would be orientated at a different angle to the piece next to it being used for the chest/back of the horse so that the chatoyance would give a...

Floor paint or covering for new workshop build

I used left over 15mm bamboo click flooring and 2 layers of underlay. The difference is superb, warmer, quieter, so easy to brush up/hoover and also move things around even the bench to get things dropped off the back, I put felt pads on the bottom of the legs.

What is the most chatoyant wood?

I do hope the point of the research is more to be able to class different woods into groups for level of chatoyance rather than for ways to kill or diminish it as this is a big part of the beauty of wood to a woodworker
