Is it time to buy a new tool... router table / table saw / spindle moulder?

Thanks, yeah, we've been pretty lucky with the response... been 'back to normal' for ages now, bizarre really to think and how serious it still is elsewhere. Only thing that's really still affected is off-island travel... which when you have the beaches / Herm / Sark etc. and it's been amazing...

Guernsey! Originally from the Westcountry, spent 10 years or so in Hampshire and then moved here about 15 years ago :)

Is it time to buy a new tool... router table / table saw / spindle moulder?

Absolutely not, on both counts. Problem is the 2nd hand market where I live is really limited and so can't be too fussy... and any of the mainland UK secondhand places like eBay shift themselves shipping big machines. (PS. Are Axminster suffering a covid related stock crisis? Pretty much...

Is it time to buy a new tool... router table / table saw / spindle moulder?

Thanks muchly for the 2p; all makes sense to me. (A) and (C) are very familiar. I realised the old table saw I was using was actually making things worse; haven't missed it. I suggested (D) on the basis of the discussion in Dado Arbor. Re; the combo machine, that definitely looks like a plan...

Is it time to buy a new tool... router table / table saw / spindle moulder?

OK thanks. I'll correct them later since that's how they advertised it... this is what it is. Is this worth an amount of money or am I better off going for a combination machine like these Planer Thicknessers - Planers & Thicknessers - Machinery | Axminster Tools which I guess does both jobs...

Is it time to buy a new tool... router table / table saw / spindle moulder?

Thanks Mike. Will check out the plane suggestions and am inclined to agree with you on not needing a table saw! The bandsaw I have is a small RP one... picked it up secondhand... old but seems fairly solid. A bit small perhaps but for now does the job. There's some nearby selling an Axminster 6"...

Is it time to buy a new tool... router table / table saw / spindle moulder?

Hi all, I'm a hobbyist woodworker, doing it for approx 3 years, limited in space to a single garage and time/patience due to busy life/kids etc. I admit that in the early days I was heavily informed by the school of YouTube, and went on a bit of a splurge buying all the tools I thought I...

    Table saw advice please...

Well, I may have found a shared space that I can work in that won't break the bank. And whilst looking for that, this has turned up... mine for £250 if I want it.

    Table saw advice please...

Sorry wasn't trying to be a nob with my comment... ! I agree with you on the dust extraction point, and also on the one you linked it's really adjustable in all manner of directions which looks sweet. Pricey tho...

    Table saw advice please...

Thanks... the one I linked to can be used with the bosch tracks, you just have to buy them separately. I liked the idea of that one with it being cordless. Thanks for the link to the setup guide for that saw, will definitely check it out.

    Wixey WR510 and Triton Thicknesser

No, but I've got the same Triton so would be interested to know how you get on...

    Table saw advice please...

OK, so mulling this over a bit more. I spoke to one of the technical people at Axminster who felt the Axminster TS250 Panel Saw over the AW10 would be a good fit for me. But, for about the same price of a big cabinet saw, I could get (I've linked to Amazon in some places as it's easy, but...

    Table saw advice please...

Sorry, I am predominantly a vicarious woodworker through the medium of YouTube which is dominated by the Americans and their terminology. You can blame Steve Ramsey mostly for that but apologies if that does just make me look a dumb n00b. You and Eric are almost certainly right that I could...

    Table saw advice please...

Hi Eric. Don't worry, no offence taken, I'd always prefer a no-BS answer and appreciate the time you took to set out your points. Although slightly alarmed to hear that what I've written is 'disturbing'! Although there does seem to be an over emphasis on ripping sheets etc. which I alluded to...

    Makita cordless router/trimmer

    Thickness Planer

I picked up a random JCB belt sander from the big orange DIY place a few years ago as it was on sale and I needed to sand down all our outdoor furniture. It was rubbish for that. BUT what i did find was that it sits flat upside down and once secured to the bench is really useful for just sanding...

NAILER / STAPLER - best option

I already had a compressor from when I used to do a lot of auto maintenance and so when I got in to woodworking I got a Makita nailer: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00K1AXGQY/ ... 31_TE_dp_1. Works well, although the hose attachment is non-standard. But after a while I also got a battery powered...

    Table saw advice please...

Hi Mike / Eric Many thanks for your comments and input, really useful. I have a sliding compound mitre saw... it's an old 8" green Bosch that I picked up second hand a while ago. It seems pretty true and I've had some good results with picture frames etc. That's definitely on the replacement...
