Having achieved for myself something of a reputation, a friend partook of a little skip diving for me (with the owner’s permission!) a while back and brought me an old table top which I think is mahogany.
Onward we go then and let's attack the old table, cut into strips on the band saw and put...
Well, the easter break gave me a chance to zoom on with the project and parts actually arrived on time for once. (installment 1 of BH weekend workings)
Plastics Online (to whom I am unconnected other than as a customer) can supply pre-cut discs for 50p each, but seeing as I know a chap what has...
Just to clarify, this is to be for a baby a bit like a mobile (but I did one of those for her big sister!)
Naturally it shall be well-enough constructed to spin in gyroscopic balance.
I am going to make the panels thinner so it looks a little less like a wrecking ball and there are going to be...
(My apologies - moved into projects from the wrong section previously)
Having recently been interested in geodesic shapes, I thought I would try something a bit different (to my normal stuff) for the impending arrival of my best man’s second daughter.
For once I think this might actually be...
Set of toys for various small ones.
Not deeply taxing to make but great fun to give away.
Made a batch as it always takes more time to set tools up rather than the making.
Chunks of 3" fence post put to good use.
Special hard bumpers for maximum skirting board damage!
When we went to Coggeshall Barn (NT place just down the road from Cressing {but pre-dating}) they suggested there that the scarf joints of the type you are mastering are of French origin - not having been seen elsewhere before this point - not sure that is any use but there you go, I await the...
I would advocate the http://www.safetyindustries.co.uk/acata ... -Mask.html which I use a lot as I have the dubious honour of working with a lot of MDF - the pre-filters are a great plan and extend the life of the p3 filter massively. comfy silicone and comes with a blanking disc which you can...
If you could stretch to M3.5 http://www.modelfixings.co.uk/thread_data.htm - scroll down for thread data; you could use the following http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/round-spacers/2652300/ or similar - on the basis that you are probably not going to be putting the threads under a lot of strain as...
Afternoon, there is a lot of fiddly work there which takes a lot of time on the lathe.
I am not sure exactly how you are using these pieces but you might be better looking for some tube which you can thread easily with a tap from a hobby shop or similar or look for some M3 stud...
Too many options now -
Workbench is 3050 long (as that is a std. length but longer would be better) and ~700 deep and will be pierced in several places for tubes / wires / pipes to pass through.
Stainless would be nice but this is a prototype line so I am trying to keep the costs down and...
Thanks gents, I will look at those options, needs to stand-up to a lot of scrubbing as well, bench will have to be cleaned down (washed at least twice a day). Nastyness / time taken are secondary to durability in this case, thanks once more, Phil
I have to finish a large workbench for a process line at work. It is going to be used with saturated metal salt solutions.
I am planning to use polyester resin (on birch ply) so that it is sealed and durable - are there any dire warning or horror stories to put me off this course of action...
I'd go with any of the above statements but remember (believe it or not) there is a correct way for these to go on.
They are punched out of a sheet of steel and so have one square-edged face and one round-edged face - the square-edged face should go towards the end of the shaft in this case...
For my chip extractor I have removed the NVR from the extractor and connected the wiring (standard warning apply when working on unit etc.) straight through. I have then made an extension lead with an NVR in it which the remote then plugs into. I can power up the extension with the NVR and then...
So impressed! Mostly with your patience, but also your skill and armoury of machinery.
I will be following your posts and hoping that one day I am granted with the ability to work on something so beautiful (complicated) and with the final result so far off!
