    Machinery brands

It's a typo - he means 'short form'. In times past when people were more open, every limited company put its full accounts* into the public record. That is no longer necessary, and it's become quite hard to find out what the numbers are (unless they are volunteered to you). Personally, I...

    Machinery brands

I beg politely to differ on the last paragraph: Axminster submitted full accounts, at least for 17-18. I know this because I was looking at them (via CoHo) last month. Rutlands, on the other hand, submitted filleted ones for the last year I could see (can't remember which, but I think it was...

Festool or Makita? Which router to go for?

Neutrik have an excellent reputation in professional audio. They've been making mains connectors for a very long time, and they have had several goes at a good compact mains connector down the years, starting with the LNE-XLR series: They didn't design that, IIRC, but were a second-source...

    A small setting-out task

We had a week-end break in Seville a week or so ago. Time doesn't permit, but it is a beautiful city, full of palaces, gothic churches, narrow, winding streets, and in our experience very nice people. I found this below in the Alcazar palace (someone left it there...), and it's doin' me 'ead...

    Hearing Aids

Not necessarily. I can think of two, globally respected, broadcast-quality microphones which we used to open up and stuff with cotton wool. that was because it works well - stopping wind noise without changing the sound quality much. I presently have some other microphones, too, that employ...

    New Member Question

I had a nasty medical test today, what they call "invasive". This necessitated filling in several forms, including giving them a list of all my medication and medical issues, by name and symptoms. So I put "Brexit" followed by "headaches and nausea". It didn't help much. :-( But welcome to...

    Filming Dolly Parton

Hey, it's almost April 1st, but somebody's peaking early: https://edelkrone.eu/pages/non-digital-camera Not quite getting the point of this, and it seems to be just a digital sensor with a printing service... or a really cheap film camera that is styled like a smartphone.

    Filming Dolly Parton

Have a look at Magic Lantern - it's a lot of fun and rather useful. It's intended for video production, but I use the peaking (in live view) for awkward macro and "wildlife" stuff, where I can't easily see focus any more because of glasses. I haven't updated mine for a while, but I believe some...

51mm threaded adapter for Numatic NVD750

Numatic are in Yeovil, IIRC. But you are in Bristol... try The Vac Shop in North View, Westbury Park/Henleaze. They keep a lot of Numatic spares, including motors and hoses - they *might* have what you need although I think the 50mm size might be too industrial forthem - worth a quick call anyway.

    Dewalt 625 or Trend T10

So here are two buying scenarios: 70 6mm aluminium insert plate (Axminster) 290-350 Trend T11 kit* 30 drilling the plate (guesstimate) ----- 450 *some T11 offers include the 1/4" collet, some don't. Or perhaps this: 140 Hitachi...

    Dewalt 625 or Trend T10

The T11 has a quick-release cam system available as an accessory. It is pre-fitted to their aluminium router table, I think, which has an aperture, but not a removable plate. It's just three cams that catch up the baseplate, located by semicircular indents around the sides of the plate. I...

Anyone got an electric paint sprayer?

Good point. It's one reason I like airless - I can have the nozzle pointing in any direction (I have a swivel and a short extension lance).

    Drill Press Table

    1) They're not 25 quid any more! 2) If it breaks, any mods make it my responsibility. 3) In real life they aren't very big. 4) It has a dust port and split fence - why? see comment earlier about throat depth.

    Birch ply MFT protection.

I used Liberon machine wax, which was possibly a bit heavy (they intend it for cast iron tops). I'm going with Briwax next time, I think. I don't want anything too solid as a coating as the dogs are a very snug fit in the holes.

    Drill Press Table

Normally I think Axminster are very good value (yes, it is a trade-off: price/quality), but not in this case. I looked at one of those tables several years back in their showroom, and was completely put off by the track slots, essentially cutting it into thirds. For me, there wasn't enough...

    Pressure washer starting and stopping

The microswitch's piston operates at full pressure WRT the outside atmosphere. The one on my old Kaarcher was stiff-ish, but moved easily with a pair of needle-nose pliers on it, if you see what I mean. If they are _identical_ pressure washers I can understand what you say, but if they've been...

    Pressure washer starting and stopping

That's most probably incoming water pressure. Check the whole supply, if necessary as far back as the stop ****, in case there are flow restrictions (hose, tap, non return valves (hint: can fail if teased out with a screwdriver), and any isolating "service" valves inside the premises).

Advice Needed for First Gasless Mig Welder

I'd thank for this twice if I could. I learned from a friend who welded in the aerospace industry. After many years of occasional attempts I'm still rubbish, but he showed me how to use my own welder, and turned up with a bag full of steel plate pieces, which he got me first to lay beads on...

round over cutter for trim router

I bought #T1301B a few weeks ago (around Christmas time), but haven't yet used it. I agree it looks like a too-small radius in my hand, but I'm slightly more worried about the top of the cutter digging-in if I rock it accidentally. It's going to need practice, as my Bosch routers are taller...

    Pressure washer starting and stopping

Tip: if you do buy a replacement, keep the plastic caps that come with the different parts carefully. They protect those male brass threads (on the lance and the two on the pump), and stop the pump being incontinent all over the garage floor (DAMHIKT).
