Making an external door from MDF

Just seems odd that accoya wouldn't be suitable for new builds cause it's not dense enough... Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Making an external door from MDF

I've seen some proper garbage off the shelf front doors. Poorly dowelled together, peeling veneers etc. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Making an external door from MDF

I wouldn't be so hasty, depending on your design. This was my first experiment with tricoya. I think the openings around a metre...possibly a bit more wide. That was 18mm tricoya with 18mm false stiles just stuck on the back to look the part. It's a stable door so gets left open and used quite...

Making an external door from MDF

Tricoya would be the most suitable sheet material but it £140 ish for an 18mm thick 8 x 4ft sheet. This picture might be of interest. Fully submerged for a couple days. On the left is external mdf (roughly £40 a sheet) vs moisture resistant mdf on the right. Both of them swelled considerably...

    Pivoting Dowel Screws

Here's how I would do it. Screw the short return piece of handrail to the long bit.Seems pointless over complicating it when a simple drawbored mortise and tenon would do the job. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    My recent injuries.

I think they must be. It's an old machine so perhaps things have changed. I agree with you about the cloth bags- nice thought but they don't catch much. One thing I'm a little hesitant/embarrassed to say is my near miss I had on Wednesday. I'm on light duties and only doing things for myself...

    My recent injuries.

Thanks SC.Do you think so ? I originally bought it for my bench but instantly doubted myself when I opened the can. Its- It's one of the most pleasing paints I've brushed on. Covers really well, doesn't run if you put it on a bit thick and levels out quite good to. It's the first time I used...

    My recent injuries.

Thanks Oscar. I've been on light duties this week so have been tidying and sorting the workshop a little. I can see the floor in most areas of the shop now. A good sort out was long overdue !! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Contact Adhesive for Kids Bedroom

Ok, I can see why you're a little cautious then. A few years ago I fitted a kitchen and had to use contact adhesive for the edges/ends. Even though the shop sold waterbased contact adhesive, they really didn't want to sell me it cause they said it was garbage. Perhaps a trial run with pva and a...

    My recent injuries.

I had no idea this was a thing. I thought it was only from trauma or lifting something too heavy. It seems we're all ticking time bombs ready to hunch over in pain ! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    My recent injuries.

Funny how different people's views are on osteopaths and chiropractors. I can't understand why they're not more readily available on the NHS. If he sorted your pain out in only two visits he must be doing something right ! Cheers Coley Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Trying linseed paint - £141.68 for 1 litre

Sounds good ! A bit dull is much better than rotten isn't it. If you get chance to take a few pictures I'd love to see them. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    My recent injuries.

Cheers Chris. Certainly seems to be turning up like buses this year. I've had about 6 weeks off since Christmas dealing with family issues and my own accidents- next year HAS to be better than this one ! Mark I'm glad you made the door suggestion. I think it's looks much better than leaving...

    Accoya cracking in the sun?

Did it have 4 coats of paint ? 2 aluminium and 2 top coats ? The top coat you used sells it self as being flexible as well doesn't it? It's almost like they didn't dip that piece of timber long enough.... Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
