Jack Russell and tommy cooper lamp

Off work today but had to go in so something could be collected. The Tommy cooper lamp has been an unfinished project floating around the workshop for....4 years !! Lol. I had an hour to kill so this seemed like a good little job to take another look at. Last time I looked at it I was going to...

    Grindstone Trimmer.

Diamond dresser was a game changer for me. So easy and effortless to take off a tiny amount and get the wheel straight and cutting good again. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Machine Surface Planing Does Perfection Exist?

Sounds like a plan ! If one side thicknesses at 21.5mm and the other at 20.5mm then that'd explain why even having the fence square to the bed produces an out of square piece of timber. If both sides read the same, the blades are installed correctly and it must have something to do with the...

Machine Surface Planing Does Perfection Exist?

If you push a piece of wood through on the left side of the thicknesser is it the same as thicknessing on the right hand side? - this would show up any error if the blades are installed quite right. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Machine Surface Planing Does Perfection Exist?

Just put a square on some timber I planed up on Monday. If at first you don't succeed...order in more timber lol ! If there's no wobble (twist) it's either the fence isn't square or you're not pushing the wood in tight to it. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Trying linseed paint - £141.68 for 1 litre

That's one thing I did notice with the paint. With the first coat ages ago I mixed up what I thought was enough (with the added zinc) but still had heaps left over. I poured the left over in a jam jar. When I fetched it from the paint room I noticed it had separated and expected it to have gone...

Trying linseed paint - £141.68 for 1 litre

I really spread it out thin Jacob and the 3rd coat was dry within 24 hours. I'm also pleased to say the 3rd coat looks much much much much much much much much much much much better than the second coat. I'll take a few pictures tomorrow but there's only a few spots that look a slightly different...

A plea to the moderators and Charley

Well this finishes off a productive morning in the shop. It's only a single row with 5 jingles but I think it sounds quite good. The one being delivered should be epic ! Off home to practice now ;@) Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

I was gonna post an update on my double row 16 jingle at the weekend though. I've heard so many tracks this morning that I reckon it would sound with. Kodaline, mumford & sons and obviously the wurzels. I wish it was here right now ! Lol Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Finish for bathroom Iroko cabinet - advice needed

Just had a look at the back of the tin. I think that means that the hardwax oil should be applied afterwards ? It has quite a long drying time so I'll have to be careful with that. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Finish for bathroom Iroko cabinet - advice needed

I'll have to re-read up on it but I think it's meant to be used before the hardwax oil to give even better protection. You've got me wondering now though....I think I bought it with the intention of using it on coasters and worktops. Umm... Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

A plea to the moderators and Charley

Ha ha, not a chance Phil ! I never use to be a cider drinker until one day out at a local fair. Biggest error I made a few weeks ago was suggesting in return for doing several favours for my neighbour and their friends, they could get me some cider instead of me charging them properly. Now ' I...

But no one knows who's gonna post something relevant. I seen resurrected posts 4-5 years old that have brought something new to the chat. Everything seems to happen so quickly nowadays. Technology is evolving that quickly that you have to wade through the fog and get to the good stuff. Sent...
