Heavy lifting just got much easier.

I think it's best I put this down as a practice run to prove it works then have a proper go. I've got plenty of 50x6 metal I could use to span several joists that might help making it more secure. I've got 1.6m from top of bench to winch hook. That door is 1075mm wide. Sent from my SM-G960F...

Heavy lifting just got much easier.

When I order timber for stiles I usually order them 100mm longer for horns (50mm each end) If i get a little planer snipe or want to use the end for setting up the tenoner I've got a bit spare. If the timber supplier sends the pieces longer it's not worth cutting off 100-200mm and putting away...

Heavy lifting just got much easier.

Chris you are a wonderful man thank you !!! I've got lots more stuff to look into now, round slings definitely look like they'll be easier to use then the stuff rigid flat ones I have. I'll take on board your suggestion of keeping an eye on everything. Tbh I'm a little concerned about the entire...

Heavy lifting just got much easier.

I think the metal part could cause damage. Buying the straps wouldnt be an issue if it's the safest way to not damage the workpiece. I think I've got a couple fairly long ones somewhere. I have been looking into how to use them. I could either wrap one around the middle of a door or perhaps...

    Made a balls up

Oh I see. I was thinking the table might be 2 inches thick with the dominoes fairly central, then perhaps loose 30mm for height after you cut away the holes. It's on my list of things to make. It's the runny epoxy that scares me though. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Festool or Makita? Which router to go for?

I think the 625 was the router of choice for at least a decade when it first came out. I think originally made my elu, then the design made by trend and dewalt. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Could you make the table a little shorter and cut off the mistake? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Heavy lifting just got much easier.

I did bodge up a rope type arrangement but didn't get on too well. I'll look into sling setups. Whilst at my dad's I raided his odds and ends draw. Perhaps something could be cobbled together with those bits and a little welding...... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Heavy lifting just got much easier.

I think the damage has probably been done but hopefully this should prevent it getting worse. The thing that would be useful is to be able to turn things over without the sash clamp being attached. Something like this It's just so clumsy and the long thread of the g clamp causes issues. I'm...

    table saw fence parallel?

I spent days trying to cure my table saw with similar issues. In the end after many frustrating hours of trying to cure it I narrowed the problem down to the rise and fall mechanism. If I wound the blade down the fence would be miles out of parallel to everything. If I wound the blade down but...

Heavy lifting just got much easier.

I've struggled with a bad back for years. On a whim I bought an electric winch and mounted it above my bench. Its proved to be a God send. No more struggling with glue ups and moving heavy stuff around. A small length of chain hooked over the end of a sash clamp and hook her up to the...

    Old-School Health and Safety Posters

I agree ! I was given one many years ago that my mate bought from the bootsale. It took pride of place on the workshop wall until it got too grubby to keep up. Not health and safety related but these two made me chuckle the other day. (Screenshot from pinterest) Coley Sent from my...

When a customer goes against your advice.....

That sounds like you should look again at your extraction - seriously. 20-30 years down the road your lungs might be glad you did. I've never not used sapele because of dust. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
