Bow in sheet after ripping on panel saw

I would never expect a rip down the centre of a board not to ‘open’ up. I would always cut twice even on a narrower rip.

    MDF Pro vs MDF

I'm currently working on a project in which the client has considerable allergies. We decided on Birch Ply and Medite (brand) ecologique - zero added formaldehyde MDF. Additional items in the project are going to be made using standard Medite Moisture resistant MDF as it machines and finishes...

    Decking Plan Advice

Not sure how high you were going but I believe you might need planning permission for decking over 300mm.

Solvent based lacquers-ok for wardrobe in child's bedroom?

I suspect the wider awareness of chemicals in the home is an issue that is going to become more pertinent. I already have clients requesting oil finishes and water based paints. My next project in which there are many pieces the designers and client have specified specially eco paints. I will...

Industrial Vacuum Cleaner PRO 703 INOX Model PRO703INOXTR

I guess the thing to consider is the level of filtration of small particles. A power tool take of is invaluable.

    Brass square section.

Sorry the "these people" sounds a bit dismissive. I mean my lovely discerning clients.

    Brass square section.

Thanks all. Yes doesn't seem readily available over 1 1/2" (which is a bit too small for my needs).. I am North London based. If these people want brass they will pay for it so cost isn't the overriding factor. Besides doing them in nice timber is still of a certain cost. Nice and polished...

    Brass square section.

Aploogies if this is not the correct terminology. I am looking for brass section approx 2" square to make some legs for a piece of furniture. Four legs at around 850mm long. Ideally polished but if that's not too difficult I might be able do it. Not had much luck looking on line or in the...

    rebated butt hinges

Hi all. looking for a hinge type that I always see on American TV shows. They are butt hinges but they the door is rebated all around giving the impression that the door is thin. Any ideas where to source nice ones and relative advantages disadvantages. Thanks.

    Blum movmento or Grass dynapro

Jonathan I almost always use Blum now as I am familiar with them and have Jigs for drilling. Over many years I’ve never had an issue with Blum. I used Grass in the past and had no real problem with them but couldn’t vouch for long term. For me they are a good 20% more costly. Maybe give them a try.

    Power feeder electrical supply options

Hi all. Just received a 2nd hand Felder F700 spindle moulder. It doesn't have a power feeder but I'm keen on getting one. It's a 3 phase and I will probably opt for 3 phase power feeder too. What are the options of powering it through the spindle as I don't have any more 3 phase feeds from the...

2nd hand machinery sales on eBay

I tend to have a look on eBay for Felder, SCM and a few other makes every now and then. Lately I have been intrigued by the Glut of, especially Felder machinery, going for a song. It's all ridiculously under priced for generally top - spec. machinery. Needless to say it's all Classified ad's...

    Axminster auctions and final price

I bought a larger item from Axminster outlet recently. Paid probably 70% of original price but comes with a year warranty and free transport. I considered that worthwhile as I couldn’t find similar condition / price on auction sites.

    David Best

I believe David Best posted a link to a PDF version of the survival guide recently on the FOG. I think he decided updating it was too much of a task so posted the original as resource.
