    3 phase sander connection.

There is power to the switch and power to the connector. If I move the switch on the connector it powers the motor but I only tested that for a second. So either the connector is faulty or it is not opening the circuit due to a problem with the input. Could the connector have developed a fault...

    3 phase sander connection.

Power is by national grid directly. 16amp supply that usually powers my planer. 16 amp red plug that plugs directly into socket of machine. Power is there at the switch on the machine- didn’t test further yet. The machine is similar to picture below. Haven’t looked for a manual yet but will...

    3 phase sander connection.

Acquired a horizontal belt sanding machine recently. I went to collect it myself and was shown it working by the seller. It was demonstrated working but with the belt running in reverse and the seller suggested swapping the 2nd & 3rd phases to correct this as he had just done with a new machine...

    Staining on Freshly planed Oak

Just planed up some Oak. All bought in the same place at the same time and have noticed marks. They almost look like liquid was spilled on them - it wasn’t. Even though the boards are different they all seem to have the marking. It’s not uniform enough to be from sticking. I’m pretty sure I’ve...

    Manual veneer guillotine blades

Thinking of purchasing 2nd hand veneer guillotine. Are blades ( I think 1150mm long), easy to sharpen, have sharpened or buy replacements for. Are they easy to set up and maintain consistency of cuts. I don’t do that much veneering and usually hand cut smaller projects but I have loads of...

    Shaper Origin in practice

I bought one just after Christmas. I used it on a couple of projects. One of them being planting a radiused solid moulding to the edge of 30mm MDF on a bookcase. The outer radius of the MDF had to meet perfectly with the inside radius of the solid edging. Once you figure out the best way to hold...

In frame fridge / freezer doors.

I'm starting to draw up an in frame kitchen. There will be a full height fridge and full height freezer. Both will be of the door attached to the appliance door type. Not concealed hinges on sliders. My question is about the carcass size. Installation literature shows a lay on door with an...

    MFT and Shaper Origin

Currently acquainting myself with the Shaper Origin. Bit of a learning curve but so far pleased. Prepare yourself for the £600 or so import duties which will come seperately from the shippers.

    Cedar of Lebanon Backs

Please read my original post with regard to the efficacy. But thanks.

    Cedar of Lebanon Backs

    Not sure I get you.

    Cedar of Lebanon Backs

I just couldn’t in all conscience tell them it was going to do anything for moth repelling. 0.7mm of veneer. I would think the 18mm of MDF would probably repel the moths more. 😉

I love them. They keep me busy.

    Cedar of Lebanon Backs

Thanks. That stuff looks awful. Its a fine line with these designers, if you suggest something they don't like a mental tick is placed against your name and you may be relegated to obscurity. The uk link seems to lead nowhere now. Boards I'm looking at are a much more uniform light brown yellow...

    Cedar of Lebanon Backs

Yes I think I was being a bit optimistic. Might just machine down to about 16mm. The final destination, back of wardrobes, should remain fairly constant.

    Cedar of Lebanon Backs

I don’t think veneer would have any of the moth repelling properties. We aren’t really going for the aesthetics. COL isn’t that attractive any way.

    Cedar of Lebanon Backs

I have approx 8 linear meters of wardrobe backs to make out of cedar of Lebanon (yeh I know). I know there is some debate about the efficacy of the moth repellant properties. but Im just going to try and give them what they want. I would propose to have up (or have made T&G boards). I can get...

    Darkening brass?

I did experiment with fuming over ammonia sometime last year. Results were patchy to be honest. I remember there being some proprietary patination fluids available.

    Drawer types

I'm looking to make drawers in Ash but for years now I have always used undermount runners. Usually because they have been specified or are the most appropriate. I'm making a small dressing table with a niche of 1,000mm x 400mm x 110mm for three drawers. The height precludes Blum's etc. I think...
