Gel stain or water based stain on pine

Hi all, I have a pine board that I wish to stain; I always find staining pine tricky with traditional water or oil based stain creates blotches ect. So reading up on the subject I find its better to seal the timber with a 50/50 mix of sanding sealer and meths, or using gel stain. Anyhow my...

Best protection for outdoor teak bench

Thanks for the response tonight guys. So, yes I dont know what to say about it really; varnish is out the equation as it flakes and gets moisture ingress beneath it. Might try the cuprinol restorer as mentioned the something (oil seems the right approach) on that. Then just leave it. I've gotta...

Best protection for outdoor teak bench

When you mention that teak oil dont last that long, do you mean it doesn't last that long cosmetically ?? Im not looking for pristine looks, just some last lasting protection that will improve the longevity of the wood. Great tip for not oiling the bits that will be sat on, I might have...

Best protection for outdoor teak bench

Yep this is exactly why Im reluctant to sand it, the wire wool has removed alot of dust and crud which has built up over the years. The bench is very old,1920's or older I think; my Dad first got it about 30 years ago, cleaned it up and used some teak oil on it; It has not been touched since so...

Best protection for outdoor teak bench

Hi hope someone can help. I have an old teak bench which is getting a bit worn. Today I spent a good few hours with some wire wool giving it a once over. Im now considering sanding it back as best I can to reveal the natural colour, when sanded I initially thought to apply some good quality teak...

    Engelbert Strauss trousers

Cannot find any reviews relating to sizes, most are the reviews i can find are in German. Its just dawned on me why the Germans wear lederhosen and often wear braces and/or large belts; it because their trousers dont fit hahaha. Little wonder really if they make em in odd sizes !

    Engelbert Strauss trousers

Thanks, looks like both waists of 31 and 32 have inside legs of 32. If I go for 31 waist I might get away with it, or pay it safe and go for 33 waist and end up with a pair of 90's raving trousers !

    Engelbert Strauss trousers

Hi I suppose trousers are tools ! If not apologies for posting in the wrong section. Anyhow I notice with the E.S trousers that waist sizes are either 31" or 33" (no 32"). Anyone know if their trousers come up smaller or lager ? My waist is 32" and inside leg of 31". Also a discount code...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Finally almost completed kitchen refit; this is the last under corner cabinet & shelves and also wall cabinet done a few months ago. Most of the timber is recycled furniture from freecycle. It's taken a while.

Katsu trimmer router will not start until I give it a spin

Thanks for the response its interesting. Thing is I would like to give it a shot at repairing it tbh before buying a replacement. The rotor does turn as I said; it just needs a tap to get it going; with that in mind I'm trying to reduce what's wrong with it ! Do these little trimmers even have...

Katsu trimmer router will not start until I give it a spin

Okay thanks I will look into that, I cannot see a capacitor (or any electronics for that matter) other than the speed controller. The warranty is expired after 6 months I expect. I would like to repair it anyway !!

Katsu trimmer router will not start until I give it a spin

Good evening hope someone can help; I bought a Katsu trimmer router back in April, so almost 6 months ago. Ive put it to good use in that time but yesterday it just stopped half way through a piece. Ive checked the brushes and there's plenty left on both & they dont look damaged atall. Ive...

    Mini track saw

I cannot find the above listed in the UK unfortunately, I will have to find it. The more I look at the Maffell it makes me want one, but at £700 it cannot be an immediate purchase, I just might wait till I can find a deal or get a 20% off voucher from Screwfix, who do stock them !

    Mini track saw

Looks interesting ! Is that cordless or corded ? Could you post a link ?? For application I really could use a mini track saw for accurate cutting of furniture board, ply, ect. I did make (two) jig(s) for my small 500w Skilsaw but somehow ended up cutting into the jigs themselves rendering them...
