What is the correct chisel to use for opening metal paint tins?

I've always found this very handy, opens tins of any size and use the handle to tap lid in place. Very useful tool really use it often https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173464452992

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

Not to sound pedantic but there is a direct correlation between the wattage of an item of equipment and the resulting KWh value that we are interested in. The KWh value is derived by multiplying the wattage of equipment by an hour, hence a 400w rated appliance will use in one hour: 0.4 KWh. So...

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

Just incase you dont know a 400w toaster element uses 400w per hour. So if your toasting (or not toasting as the slots empty) for 5 mins, you will be wasting 33.3 watts. Average toast consumption per day for a "normal" person, I would think would be 3 single slices, per week that equates to...

Rubber feet for bench grinder needed

Thanks thats great, I did actually look at both them sites but couldn't find listing on the Sinclair site, which has 2 images showing different styles so I will give em a call tomorrow and hope they are keen to help. Rubber feet for bench grinder needed

Hi, Im currently restoring an old Ingersoll Rand bench grinder and am looking for some push in rubber feet. The old feet are perished, but were push fit into a 1/2 inch hole, I need 4 of them. They look similar to the pic below so you can push them in and they wont fall out if that makes any...

Advice needed please on building a small wood workshop

Thanks, thought id show for the original poser really, for insulation we used thin (20mm or there abouts) celotex wedged between battens screwed to the doors (walls) on the inside, and then plasterboard. Had no issues with damp atall. However the floor tends to get a bit damp only when it snows...

Advice needed please on building a small wood workshop

I built my shed from old doors and free timber found in skips ect about 15 years ago and its still standing. Almost all the timber was salvaged (incl the featheredge. Floor was 4x2's on cast concrete padstones with some dpm on the ends. Decided on a green roof and its not leaked (yet). See the...

    Axminster AW230SB Bandsaw alternative

The Sabre also has "improved" heavier iron wheels. I did watch a yt vid of someone with a RP BS52 and it was loud with a bit of screeching; not sure if thats due to not having the belt tensioned properly or not but it sounded a bit tinny.

    Axminster AW230SB Bandsaw alternative

Thanks James yep thats way too heavy. Anyhow after some serious googling I will be getting the Axminster machine, that will do me until I get a bigger workshop.

    Axminster AW230SB Bandsaw alternative

Yea have been looking at that one but the Sabre is a better build I think for the extra £100 or so. I really would like a 12" but none I can see are bench mountable; I suppose if the stands were removed they could be but would end up too high from the floor, and be too heavy probably. I really...

    Axminster AW230SB Bandsaw alternative

Im not sure if the 500w is the no load wattage or full load wattage, similarly for the 350w. I doubt the 350w is no load, but it might be. Othewise all things being equal they might be very similar engines. I would go for the next size up if it was bench mountable and not so heavy to lug about...

    Axminster AW230SB Bandsaw alternative

Unfortunately I do not have enough room for a bigger saw, a 10" is the limit. The Record Sabre 250 looks a good offering, im leaning towards the RP now; although its 350w compared to the Axi 500w. Can anyone offer any advice ?

    Axminster AW230SB Bandsaw alternative

Happy New year all. Im in the market for a bandsaw for my small workshop; the Axi AW230SB looks like a good fit, Anyone know of a suitable alternative ? I could live with a used unit but dont wanna spend alot of time/money on replacement rollers/bearings ect. The ELU 3401 looks like a contender...
