Looking for a tap of a certain variety

Yes I have seen them but they have a rather bulbous end that will restrict where I need to tap. Its driving me mad this trying to find a suitable tool. As mentioned earlier If I could only find a tap like the one in the picture my trouble would be over as I could attach a wobble bar and job done...

Looking for a tap of a certain variety

I need a long thin shaft with the tap on the end (awkward place to get a T-bar). Thought the photo above was ideal as could attach a wobble bar and so have a long shaft. Do you know if long screwdrivers with a square end (so I can attach a conventional tap) are available anywhere ??

Looking for a tap of a certain variety

Hi all, would anyone out know where I can get hold of a tap similar to the one in the photo below ? Its the same as any other tap except it has a 1/4 inch socket at one end so it can be connected to a 1/4 inch drive ratchet. All the ones I can find are the standard generic ones that need the...

why is hobby woodworking in decline?

I go to the gym regularly and I'm surprised at the amount of young people there (even on a weekend and Friday night). Got me thinking they probably have little else to do, not necessarily a bad thing thou.

    New (old) Inca 205 bandsaw

The table is almost flat now; its not too much to actually bend the thing back to something resembling normal with clamps and wedges of wood. I have improved the frame by the same method and today will put the saw back together (I stripped it completely to clean and work it out); hopefully the...

    New (old) Inca 205 bandsaw

There is a key on the spindle, its visible on the photo posted if you zoom in. The motor is a Leroy Somer, it's the original I think.

Bending ali bandsaw frame back to normal

I can guarantee the frame was well pi###d, using a straightedge on the central of inside there was about a 12mm lateral difference between the top & bottom. Even worse was lateral uneveness between the top and bottom sections of the throat out by about 3/4 inch. Anyhow thank god miracles do...

Bending ali bandsaw frame back to normal

Not sure, probably from being picked up from the top and/or maybe blade was left over tensioned for some time.

Bending ali bandsaw frame back to normal

Thats my only option. The frame is definitely twisted/bent which is effecting the coplanarity of the wheels. There is some movement in/out on the lower wheel but too far and the blade rubs on the enclosure housing the blade height mechanic. Thanks for the reply's

Bending ali bandsaw frame back to normal

Yep its looking like it wont be cost effective to repair, shame really as its a nice saw just the right size and weight.

Bending ali bandsaw frame back to normal

After attempting to set the wheels coplanar last weekend with straightedges and through all ranges of adjustment it was not possible, the frame is too far gone. So, right now the frame is stripped and its clamped up flat and trueish since last night. Ive yet to remove the clamps but im fairly...

Bending ali bandsaw frame back to normal

I have a bandsaw with a cast aluminium frame (Inca 205) thats quite badly out of alignment. Today I stripped all the parts off and using various straight edges and clamps, now have it clamped up and all square. I suspect when I remove the clamps it will spring back to its twisted form. If I heat...

    No No's on projects

I'm not a fan of MDF either solely because it's s cheap imitation of real wood; and I'm proud to say there is no MDF anywhere in my house. Thats not that I'm against any man made material masquerading as wood; I like a bit of formica, makes a lovely covering for tables and other flat surfaces !

    New (old) Inca 205 bandsaw

Hi all hope someone can help. I've recently bought an Inca 205 bandsaw on gumtree for £50; its a bit ropey and am hoping to restore it to its former glory. It was a gamble buying it unseen and arranging delivery, and hope it will pay off. Its a good size for my small workshop, and an ideal size...
