SDS drills and drill bits... and chisels

Probably you no this already but if chiselling tiles off a wall do use goggles / safety glasses! In fact use them on concrete as well; but especially ceramic tiles; can be nasty if when a shard lodges in the mince pies !

    Smart meter con ?

My twopence worth: The energy companies would like to have smart meters in every home; and apparently they can do this at "no cost to the customer". So that's millions of smart meters and even more millions of hours installing them; but it wont cost the customers anything ! Haha that dont add up...

Second, third or more lease of life.

My old Mum has a fridge Feezer; Hoover branded and it's been fine for 20 years +. My Mums wisdom is when the food/packaging in the fridge remains damp; the fridge is caput. Anyway after taking a look at it, seems obvious to me that the door seals are on their way out, they gone misshapen around...

    Plough planing small parts

Yes I could fabricate something but tbh if they're selling somewhere off the shelf would prefer to buy. Hope that's not a defeatist attitude 😶

    Plough planing small parts

Yep I was considering a Doe's foot (Holdfast). The board is an excellent idea thou and will likely go for that. At this moment in time I'm looking forward and working out what I need to make my life easier, my woodworking more enjoyable, and to make cleaner pieces since making do for the last 20...

    Plough planing small parts

Great idea using a board; that idea escaped me. The stock is a bit thin thou, maybe 6-7mm ! So anything holding it in place will need to slighty thinner. It will work thou yes that's a great method !

    Plough planing small parts

Hi hope someone can point me in the right direction. I'm in the process of making my first ever dovetails box. I have now made the box itself (do a bit most evenings) but not glued up yet as I want to plough plane a rebate for the base, and possibly for a sliding lid aswell. What I'm stuck on is...

    Clinometer - questions about device

You need to measure the dip & strike for inclination of an object. Two readings, one for dip, the other for strike. Easy done with a map compass dont need anything specialist !

    Record Power Sabre 250 Bandsaw

Ive had a Sabre 250 for a few months, cannot complain really its v.good; the tables dead flat and the fence is accurate (just); the fence could squared up with shims if it's not bang on out the box . It does everything I need it to and dont require anything bigger; which is often suggested...

    Clinometer - questions about device

Just a guess but likely the same liquid used in compasses, the ones found on yachts for example

13A fuses - is there much difference?

Thing is if it was working alright before but now its not; then somethings amiss!

13A fuses - is there much difference?

Almost forgot to mention; is the equipment dated ? If it was made some time ago to run on 240v then that might be the issue. Harminization of voltage across Europe nowdays to 230v +- wherever (sometimes it is still around 240v though) means if the voltage is lower (say 220v) then current is...

13A fuses - is there much difference?

I would advise to follow the manufacturer's instructions on fuse size, if the equipment is made with a lead and 13a plug then use just that. Only use fuses from a reputable brand; bussman springs to mind. Not too long ago I read a piece about knock off plug fuses that are poorly made flooding...

RP Sabre 250; anyone have one

Had the Sabre 250 delivered last week and pleased with it. Ripped some 4" oak for a box and gets through no problem atall with Tuffsaw 1/2" blade. I have removed the bearing safety guards" on mine as they make it difficult to see the business end. This is my first new bandsaw so cannot compre it...

    Wildflower seeds / garden

It does take a few years for any plant species to thrive (become established) in its new surroundings. The green roof on my workshop for example just put ordinary soil on there with some grass seed initially for some colour. Eventually (some 10 or more years) there's now a variety of stuff there...

    Wildflower seeds / garden

From my dabbling with wildflower seeds is that they will grow, and die come the winter. Then that's it you need more seeds again

RP Sabre 250; anyone have one

Hi I'm wanting to buy a new benchtop bandsaw, I cannot physically go any bigger than a 10" benchtop model due to space constraints. Anyone have the Sabre 250 ? If so how do you rate it; any issues or niggles ? Also was seriously considering the Axminster professional AP1854B but it's way too...
