    Baltic Birch Myth or mystery?

I often see posts referring to Baltic Birch ply this is a term that I've not come across outside social media. Can someone enlighten me what is meant by Baltic Birch ply? As far as I know all Birch ply that I buy is either Russian or from Finland. Is it a confusion of the grading system as...

    HMRC

35 minutes to find although I submitted my return in plenty of time they missed the cut off for DD, you think someone would have seen that and done something about it?

    HMRC

Unfortunately it's the Vat branch of the circus that I need to speak to, submitted my return via their new make tax digital system which in the end was ok except they haven't drawn the tax owed as normal (DD) just show it as overdue.

    HMRC

This may seem a very strange request but has anyone here tried to contact the taxman? As far as I can see it is now just about impossible. Yes fine if you have a standard question just click the button and get a standard answer, but what happens when they make a mistake and you can't let them...

    Staircase

Now that I've worked out how to load photos from my phone here's a picture of a staircase I'm currently building , its now ready for building in. The treads are veneered in 2.5mm Ash the rest will be plaster boarded and skimmed then a glass screen fixed to the open side.

    Removing paint from external walls.

I've no experience to go by but as a suggestion maybe a steam cleaner as opposed to a simple pressure washer might be worthy of investigating.

    6mm MDF screening panel

Won't your local B&Q order it in for you if they don't stock it themselves?

    Unknown bench guillotine

Going by the very small table size I think it could be used by a panel beater for trimming panels after they have been shaped and stretched a bit, think an old front car wing for example, used like a heavy duty pair of tin snips. No scrub that idea doesn't explain the deep throat.

    Advice needed re unstable doors.

I would be tempted to do nothing just yet anyway , leave the doors open and let it aclimatise to its new home see what happens then paint if it flattens out.

18th Century Prison first floor workshop and heavy machinery

As another point of view have you thought about the noise , a wooden floor would make a great sounding board for a thicknesser.

    Anyone here from Glasgow?

I know it's a bit of a long shot but is there any one in Glasgow up for a challenge? I have been asked to re-assemble and fit a large cabinet that I made 20+ years ago and it's a bit of long way for me to travel.

    VAWTs and workshop heating

I've just about made the decision to go for infrared electric heaters hung from the ceiling, for the last two winters I've used a portable one and although it takes a bit of getting used to it does work even when I'm spraying with large extraction fan and door open. Yes you have the leccy bill...

    Anyone had a gastroscopy?

I had the spray but i also have a very strong gag reflex so in the end had to have sedation and opted for it each time after. Mind you i think the equipment is a lot smaller now, the first time was like "now just swallow as i shove this broom handle down your throat, it won't hurt" Good luck.
