    When oiling v-carved lettering etc. I will use a stiff brush to coat well let it soak in for a bit then wipe off as much as possible but then use the air line to blow the carving clean then wipe off the surface again! Seems to work for me.

    In a weak moment I have just bought a union graduate lathe, I believe it is a short bed as it seems go me quite short! Any way I will need a few face plates both left and right hand if anyone has any not being used or knows where I might find same. Goes without saying beer tokens in exchange.

    Tulip wood works well you need to select it for a nice hard bit, works easily and dovtails well it also polishes well.

    A nice compact utility room finished last week, gloss slate grey doors light grey cabinet interiors all made to measure hiding boiler, consumer unit, washing machine, tumble drier, water softner, broom/ cleaning cupboard three drawers and wall storage sink set into ceramic worktop.

    No not B&Q special but carefully shaped and jointed up Oak handrail for retro fitting to a stair case with quarter landing, fingers crossed that it will fit.
