Nvr switch on dust extractor. To be or not to be?

You mention a warehouse so do you have workers or members of the public in there? If the answer to that is yes then I would not mess with it. With litigation being the way it is these days the removal of safety features may not be a good look. What an individual does in his garden shed is one...

    Development of the pole lathe

Before the pole lathe was the bow lathe. https://www.historicgames.com/lathes/mylathe.html No knowing how old that is as the bow was also used to power a drill and before that to spin a stick to start a fire. I guess the pole lathe is just an advance on the bow as you have both hands free to...

    Development of the pole lathe

George Lailey is reputed to be the last person in England to earn a living with a pole lathe. He worked in a workshop. I can only go by what I have read and bodgers worked in the woods as they traveled from place to place. The great weather in the country would have encouraged those that could...

    Bandsaw question..

Top one is collecting by the lower bearings so at the source of the dust and the other collects at the bottom of the cabinet. A better setup than a single collection port. Lots of people with single port extraction rig up home made top ports to improve things. Regards John

Ulmia 348 Mitre Saw binding/stopping issue

I have a hand miter saw but the top guides are a bit different. Blade tension may be one factor and those guide collars may be out of alignment or the nuts holding them loose. In fact check all threaded connections are tight. Bit of wax on the top rail would not hurt either. Regards John

    Sapele for a workbench?

The best wood for a bench is the wood you have. A good functional bench can be made from most woods. I would be bowled over by the cost If I was buying that much sapele. Regards John

    Spear and Jackson hand saw

Hi Ren, Will be no problem if you can sharpen small teeth. 10 tpi and larger is a walk in the park compared to small teeth. Here are the ones I saved. Guy was going to bin them as they were blunt. Both 7 tpi so made one into a rip and needed to be able to tell them apart. Regards John

    Spear and Jackson hand saw

I reshaped a couple of those handles and found those are press rivets so you have to destroy then to get the handle off. Being rivets you could simply bang them up a bit tighter with a hammer. Support the other end on something solid. Regards John
