Quite possible to see any of those species in a uk garden. You said SNAKES ! its a well known fact that no bird will go anywhere near a snake ! You didn't mention garden birds. and it's not a fact that birds won't go anywhere near snakes. It's just not true. Birds eat snakes. Then you...

Gulls certainly do. Buzzards, Kites, pheasants off the top of my head. Given that you specifically mentioned that they are a deterrent for gulls, and I know that, having seen them do it, gulls eat snakes, namely grass snakes in my case. I would suggest that they potentially aren't the...

Some birds, including gulls eat snakes so I'm not entirely sure that's true. If it works, like any visual detterent it needs to be moved regularly so that the thing you are deterring diesn't get used to it.

I hate that, Makes me nervous if I only have 1/4 tank wheras my wife will happily drive arpund until she's running on fumes. I grew up in a pretty rural area, not a great deal of fuel stations nearby and the ones that were nearby weren't always open so you had to plan when you were going to...

Ooh yeah you are right. Cage trapping it is then. Or make friends with someone who has an airgun.

Probably the easiest and cheapest method would be cage trapping. You can own a sub 12ftlbs airgun without the need for a firearms licence but unless you are interested in shooting etc. It's a lot of faff.

Unfortunately, I think in this case lethal control would be illegal as I'm not sure it would comply with the terms of the General Licence.

The spiky things are pretty good if correctly installed. Fake owls work but only in the short term unless you keep moving them about the pigeons get used to them. What are they roosting on? Might be easiest to remove their access to it with netting or wire or expanding foam?

How do I lubricate and clean Diamond Sharpening Stones?

WD 40 as above or GT85 or even white spirit to lubricate. Pencil rubbers are great for cleaning out diamond stones, although it sounds like yours might be very badly gummed up. Worth a try though?

    Yet another wood identification

This would be my guess. Maybe even blackthorn. It's a fruit wood of some sort. It's definitely not Yew.

Yes, yet another, another wood id please😀

That's pine. If I was hard pressed I'd say Scots pine. It's heavy because it's full of water.

    Is this asbestos?

I was going to buy a house earlier in the year that was insulated with this stuff and I'd agree, it looks like stramit board. It's made of straw I think. No idea whether they would have included asbestos though.

    Hunting Walnut

A bit further but real wood studios in Jedburgh might be worth an ask.
