    a 1st chainsaw

That's fine. But the lad is 16 looking for his first saw. Personally my advice would be smaller rather than larger. As his technique and experience improves he could progress to a big unwieldy numb thing if he wants.

I want to drill a hole in my saws

They work but they magnetise the blade and the filings stick to it when you sharpen which is irritating.

15 is okay. I'd just go for 13 personally.

    a 1st chainsaw

Good advice. I have a Husqvarna chainsaw because I am a real man and I pronounce it "husky" I have felled hundreds and hundreds of trees with my 346xp. You don't want a big heavy saw if you are swinging it around all the live long day. similarly long bars are good for some things but the...

    The Sign

I just re-read my post and it was very abrupt. Apologies. It is very well executed.

Really steel toecapped boots aren't enough. FISA guidelines state chainsaw boots with cut protection that matches your chain speed.

    Anti-slip treatment for iPhone.

Totally agree with all that. But I am typing this response on a mobile phone so I am a hypocrite. I'm slightly over 30, 35. I didn't have a phone until I was 18 which coincided with leaving home and moving away. It's a useful device, sat nav, MP3 player, camera etc but it spends most of...

I wish Hans would turn his hand to table sauce too. sounds like he could make a brilliant tomato based sauce that would go well with Sausages.

Dangerous? - chain blade in disc cutter

https://www.husqvarna.com/uk/forest/whe ... with-bore/ https://www.oregonproducts.com/en/chain ... ack#topic2 That is what I was taught. If you cut the bar nose in half lengthwise the top half of the bar is the kickback zone, the half of the nose on the pushing chain. The bottom half of the...

    Scary

I worked in Sainsbury's while I was in my first year of college and I remember asking a customer if he had a Nectar card. "Don't be daft. It's a con. I don't want them k owing what I buy." From memory he'd bought bog roll, a loaf of bread and a cabbage. I can see how that would be worth...

    Woodworking dangerous? Try gardening!

One of my friends, as a junior doctor had the task of removing a granny smith apple from a gentleman who had, presumably tripped over his fruit bowl whilst doing some nude spring cleaning. As you do.

    Second hand planes....

All of my planes... two Stanley No. 5's, one No4 one No7 and one 5 1/2 oh and three little Stanley block planes. Were bought second hand on Ebay. I suppose it's a bit of a punt as you can't actually hold them in your hand and physically look at them but... They all turned up in good...
