    Because the mechanical parts of the AW starter will become fatigued/worn after so many years I used to service and install AW starters from 1/2 KW SP to 250KW 3PH they do wear.

    Did you (the original OP) screw the current settings to their maximum this starter was always IMO at its limit for a 1/2 HP motor? A new stater is the best way to go that AW starter has done its job now it's time to fit a 21st-century starter MEM or Telemecanique or how about this one DOL...

    Having been a BMW Owner & Driver for 40+ years I can tell you Mr Moderator (In Germany) it is not generally accepted by other drivers here that BMW drivers are any worse at said "not using indicators turn signals" that any other make of car driver.
