    Compressor repair..

Got them from Amazon, definitely of chinese origin. There were tiny marker holes for where the earth should go but was easier to use ring terminals onto the mounting screws for the pressure switch as opposed to drill and tap the pressure switch. Final clean now done and time for the covers...

    The uprising has begun!

I completely get what you are all saying, however there are uses for them they were not designed for. Coupled with 3rd party skills and products have done the following with the Alexa: Allow a bed bound very athritic lady to be able to turn the heating on\up\down\off. Play songs by X, this or...

    Compressor repair..

Final bits arrived today from Amazon to finish the electrics (ring crimps for the earth) as the replacement pressure switch didn't make allowance for it :( Anyway, had never heard it run before i bought it and its been sat outside for 3-4 years under a cover. Finally having replaced the...

    Compressor repair..

Cheers :) Went with heat and a baby cold chisel, was only using MAP gas and the alloy started to melt! Was concentrating around the outside too! Came out easily. Now to give the thread a clean and clean the tank out :) Jon.

Hi All, Finally got round to fixing a compressor I bought off here ages ago. All was going well until I tried removing the old manifold which needed replacing. Essentially it snapped off, a couple of questions for you all please: Any suggestions for removing the alloy portition from the...

    Many thanks to Robbo3

Hi All, Just wanted to thank Robbo3 for his help today. Went up to look at the Draper mini lathe and accessories he had for sale. He was a true gent; knowing I was a newbie to turning he took the time to show me start to finish the process of pen turning, lots of information about wood...

Best way to make identical 5cm oak hearts?

Have you tried stack cutting them? You could probably do 3 batches of 6 on top of each other depending on the saw and blades you are using. Tape them all together with masking tape, then pritt stick, spray glue the pattern on top and then coat with sellotape or clear packing tape. It will be...

New to turning, chisels and sharpening

Thanks guys :) Jogged my memory that I bought one of these ages ago when they were on offer: https://www.aldi.co.uk/bench-grinder-an ... 9007504600 Assume this would be suitable for sharpening? Still brand new in the box, knew it would come in handy sometime lol. Cheers, Jon.

New to turning, chisels and sharpening

Hi All, Fairly close to buying my first lathe and have had a go so fairly happy with that side of things. Have had a look at the FAQ but can't find an answer thus far. Looking for an entry level set of chisels, initially purely for pen turning so any recommendations would be welcome. My main...

    Festool Domino just blew up!

Glad it got sorted! Not had an issue with my Domino but their Customer service is excellent! Had a PZ1 Centrotec bit that exploded the first time I used it, normally wouldn't bother but for an £11 bit thought i'd ask them. No problem whatsoever and just sent me a new one despite it being a...

    Festool CTL hose vs DeWalt

Hi All, Have finally just purchased a CTL Midi which comes with the 27mm hose. Really happy with it but one issue is that the dust extraction nozzle doesn't push into the extraction port of my DeWalt RO Sander as far as my old Nilfisk. Bearing in mind that 90% of my tools that have extraction...

ISOtunes - Earprotection with bluetooth for music and phone?

They don't seem to have a UK distributor, that said it will most likely be cheaper to get them shipped from the US. USPS Flat Rate box is about $20USD. I have ordered loads from the US over the years and never had a problem. Peltor do some brilliant bluetooth ear defenders which are very...

    Outdoor shelters/gazebos

Hi, After a few cheap (sub £100) ones I now have one of these: https://www.gazeboshop.co.uk/shop/heavy ... el-gazebo/ It's been up 3 years and the cover only got destroyed during a storm as I hadn't rolled it back. That said the frame was not damaged at all. Spare parts are available which...

    Any electronics whizzes?

Agree, Was looking at the pic on my phone when I replied, having seen the bigger pic it doesn't look bulged but it could still be bad.

    Any electronics whizzes?

That cap does look slightly bulged. Also look at the top to see if there is any brown stuff leaking out. The replacement will be absolutely fine. Just be aware that as it's an electrolytic cap that you get the polarity + - correct as they go off like a bomb if reverse polarised. Worth...
