    Blackboard paint

Hi All, What's the best method for applying this to achieve a good finish? I'm applying it onto MDF which has been sealed with MDF primer. The shapes are quite varied, animal shapes so thinking a mini roller so I don't get big runs on the edges. Would a roller be the best solution? If so...

    Extraction - My solution...

Well.... Dust extraction is now at MKIII and getting closer to being signed off :) Got a flexible 1\4" coolant pipe from fleabay for 99p. Added a bit of insulation tape to make it fit the 20mm conduit snugly. The previous versions worked fine... Until I had to cut some bigger stuff (About A3...

    Abranet Hand Sanding Kit

Another +1 here :) I got a load of Abranet sheets for the hand sander from a woodworking supplies place, didn't have to buy boxes, just say 10 of each and worked out very economical :) Jon.

    Extraction - My solution...

She is doing OK thanks :) Paramedic and Hospital missed it until 4 days afterwards. She has had 4 stents and 2 balloons done 3 weeks ago on 2 arteries and goes back in 3 weeks to have the 3rd artery done. I was self employed in IT but had to stop as she wasn't able to drive following it and...

    ............

Thanks for posting :) That's a really clever way of sorting the extraction! That's what I love about forums, so many ways of doing the same thing :) Cheers, Jon.

Adding variable speed to a SS that doesn't have it.

Scrimper, You are absolutely 100% correct. Apologies for saying this could be used with the Hegner, I completely overlooked the fact it had a induction motor. It will be fine for anything with brushes. Cheers, Jon.

Adding variable speed to a SS that doesn't have it.

Thanks, Will double check, the supplier listed the controller as compatible. I have tried it, all be it briefly. Jon.

Adding variable speed to a SS that doesn't have it.

Here is the parts list: Toolstation: 1 x 37079 - 2M Single Extension Lead (cheaper than buying the plug, socket and cable) 1 x 48151 - 93mm x 93mm x 55mm IP 65 box (keeps the dust out and strong) 1 x 80473 - 10x White Cable Glands (Nearly the same price as buying 2 from somewhere similar) If...

    Extraction - My solution...

LOL! We certainly do and i have lost a few over the fence ;) The current one is like a profession one for shows etc. The frame is very heavy and have 4 high density concrete blocks to anchor it to minus the sides. Far from ideal but it's all I have at the moment. Clearing some space in the...

    Extraction - My solution...

Thanks for the tips guys, haven't broken a blade as yet; well not on the Hegner ;) Had just finished cutting an order on the Record when it died, have spent more time getting the Hegner all mounted and the dust extraction sorted as my workshop is a 3Mx3M gazebo in the garden but it will have to...

Adding variable speed to a SS that doesn't have it.

If anyone is interested i'll post a parts list and instructions :) The IP65 box, glands and cable I already had but even if you had to buy everything you would get change out of £15. With a trailing socket and plug it could be used to control anything :) Jon.

    Extraction - My solution...

Good point! The bottom clamp on the Hegner is retained by a sprung clamp so may not be an issue. I'm going to make another mod to deal with the static produced by the PVC pipe. Just going to drill through the clamps on the pipework and install some 25mm self tappers and connect them together...

Adding variable speed to a SS that doesn't have it.

UPDATE: Thanks to Scrimper for the heads up, I had completely overlooked that the Hegners have induction motors. This speed control should NOT be used on anything that has an induction motor. Fine for things with normal brushed motors. Hi All, When I bought my Hegner earlier in the week it...
