Aldi Bandsaw ( new model) coming soon. Buy it or choose other model

If you look at the link to the Sheppach HBS261 manual I posted above you'll see pictures showing them and they appear identical to those on my Ferrex e.g.

Aldi Bandsaw ( new model) coming soon. Buy it or choose other model

I got one in October last year and, as far as I could ascertain, mine was the same as the HBS261 - so if people think that this year's one is also identical to the HBS261, they haven't changed much other than the colour. The one thing I really hated about it was the awful stiff plastic mains...

    Track saws?

It's a pity that Excel don't do a longer rail - I'd love a 2700 or 3000 instead of joining my two 1400 rails but I can't justify the cost of the longer Festool rails.

    Scribing to a stone wall

It may be because I'm getting older but I find reducing the number of times I have to move heavy things into/out of position makes my body complain less the following morning :p As a consequence, for anything that's heavy, bulky or awkward to move, I normally scribe & cut a large piece of stiff...

Cutting through ceramic tiled worktop in situ.

You could always try the router bit method to get to within a couple of inches or so (router width) of the wall and then an angle grinder for the last bit - or even a dremil with a tile cutting bit should be OK for a short distance

Cutting through ceramic tiled worktop in situ.

You could try a bit like this in a palm router. https://www.protilertools.co.uk/product/bosch-diamond-router-bit-2608620217 Easy enough to clamp a guide to the worktop to get a straight cut - might be a bit dusty though

    The Makita LS1219L

Another vote for the Bosch GCM 12SD, I've had one for several years and it's a great saw. It has a laser but, thanks to another member on here, you can change this (in about 5 mins) to a shadow line which I prefer...

    Workshop layout help/advice?

All I can say is put in at least twice as many sockets as you think you'll need - then add a few extra for good measure. You'll never need to use them all at once but anything that avoids trailing cords, or the need to use an extension lead, in a workshop removes trip hazards. You may also find...

    Interest rates and mortgages.....

If you have equity in the property and are going to remortgage at some point, it might be worth looking at a fixed rate offset arrangement that allows you a larger 'pot' than is needed to repay your current loan. e.g. if your current mortgage is, say, £200k on a property worth £400k, you could...

    asking the impossible....????

If you can route a channel into the bottom of the cabinets, these white aluminium profiles with opal diffuser are only 7mm deep https://mkshop.co.uk/2-metres-white-aluminium-extrusion-profile-linemini-for-led-strip-lights/ I used them when I needed unobtrusive stair lighting and filled them...

Help me choose a belt sander

It's through buyaparcel's ebay store - it's priced at £258 but they've a 10% off coupon which takes it down to £228.59 It's a crap business name but buyaparcel are an authorised Makita dealer and I've bought from them before and had no issue registering them with Makita for the 3-year warranty
