New compressor - need air hose recommendations

I've just purchased a Hyundai Super Silent (we'll see about that ;) ) compressor - it's my first compressor so I'm on a bit of a learning curve... I'd like to get a 10m or 15m hose so I can do some paint spraying in the garden while leaving the compressor in the workshop - can anyone recommend...

    Electric Drive Gates opener

For the gate rams, my Quiko installation manual recommended 1.5mm cable for up to 30m, 2.5mm > 30m (both 4-core). There's probably a distance limit for 2.5mm but it's not in the manual. Whatever system you go for may have different requirements so I'd echo some of the previous comments and say...

    Electric Drive Gates opener

I thought the 24v systems still connect to 240v power and it's the gate motors that are 24v and are powered from the control board. From what I read, I think that the only real benefit of the 24v systems is regarding the duty cycle as the 24v motors generate less heat and can cope with more...

    Electric Drive Gates opener

Haven't got a clue - not many people in the UK with a driveway that long... I dare say that, if I was fortunate enough to have a driveway of that length, I'd have built a sentry box down by the gates - then my ex-SAS security guards would have somewhere to stay warm whilst they wait to open...

    Electric Drive Gates opener

I think that one of the best decisions I made when installing my gate openers was to situate the control electronics out of the elements in the garage - yes it means some longer cable runs but cable is cheap. When researching prior to purchase, I saw a number of comments about control boards...

    Electric Drive Gates opener

I put in Quiko Eon swing gate openers last summer - reasonably priced, seem very well made, installation was simple and control panel programming was straightforward.

    Tool Batteries

You can get a twinpack of the 6Ah Makitas from PowerToolMate for £156 - so £78 each, still more than my 'normal' £10/Ah target pricing but probably as good as it gets at the moment https://www.powertoolmate.co.uk/Products/004000060013/EB/BL1860/TWIN

    Tool Batteries

Yep, I've got some Molicel P42A cells, they're a 21700 with 4200mAh and capable of 35A, they do tail off once they're down to around 30% capacity but impressive nonetheless - and 21700's seem to be getting better fairly rapidly. When one of my 3Ah Makita batteries starts to die, I may try...

    Tool Batteries

Cordless tool battery performance tends to depend on the current rating, i.e. they have to be able to sustain a high discharge rate as well as sufficient capacity to provide the runtime The general rule of thumb is higher capacity cells have lower current ratings - reliable cells that have...

    Tool Batteries

Hate to blame it all on COVID but that's the reason Makita batteries have increased in price so much - demand is outstripping supply so there's little need to discount. pre-COVID my target pricing for genuine Makita was always around £10/Ah and I was picking up 3Ah for £27 and 4Ah for £38 -...

    Tool Batteries

Definitely worth keeping your eyes open. I recently took advantage of a Makita promo offer at my local Screwfix that included an 'OK-spec' 18v drill, charger, case and 2 x 5Ah batteries - cost was slightly less than the best online price I could find for the batteries. Didn't sell the...

    Mitre Lock Router Bit

    Wow, that's a big shank, don't think I've got a collet for that! :p

    12" compound mitre saw

If you're referring to the Bosch GCM12GDL, I don't know which plastic bits you think won't last... unless you're planning to 'adjust' them with a lump hammer. I've had one with the mobile stand for several years - it's a great saw and very robust. I've given it a fair amount of abuse, nothing's...

Sander - is there a hook/loop reverser pad?

I think the problem has just been solved - I've received a txt from the guy who gave them to me and it looks like he gave me the wrong box. He has an old air sander that uses the opposite attachment type (don't know if my sander has hooks and the discs have loops or vice versa) and, at some...

Sander - is there a hook/loop reverser pad?

That seems like an idea but wouldn't it stop the dust extraction through the mesh? The Bosch discs are P320 so I'd want to ensure that any glue up is very flat - suppose I could clamp them between pieces of wood....

Sander - is there a hook/loop reverser pad?

I've acquired a large box of 125mm Bosch mesh sanding discs but it appears that the hook & loop backing is the wrong gender for my sander - they'll attach quite happily to the backs of my other sanding discs but not to the sander itself. Does anyone know of pads that will reverse the hook &...

Does the Katsu 18v trimmer accept Makita batteries

I already have a Makita DRT50 18v Trimmer and have realised how useful it would be to have an additional one with, say, my normal roundover bit permanently set to the correct depth - I don't, however, fancy paying for another DRT50. The price of the Katsu 18v trimmer is much more acceptable if...
