    Temp fixing work bench top

I’ve done the same. It’s more that I can only do this on one side as the worktop isn’t wide enough to reach both sides of the trestles (I could only go as wide/deep as the space I have behind the cupboard)

    Temp fixing work bench top

Advice needed! I am having a ply MFT top made that will sit on a basic frame of CLS or ply (or possibly a simple torsion box). When in use I will use a pair of Toughbuilt C700 Sawhorses/ Trestles (pictured) as the base and this will be used on the drive in our very dry and warm wood- and...

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

Of those happy with thieves being hospitalised or killed, have you ever in your life driven after more than 2 pints? Or been with a friend who has?

    Dust masks for women

PPE for women is rubbish as many nursing staff discovered at the height of Covid. JSP is good for most. For disposables. 3M Aura masks are greatfor smaller faces. Women I know have used 9332+ (valved so easier to breathe out) and 9330+ (unvalved so better if you don’t want to breathe your...

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

How is it like that though? Youve just described ‘heat of the moment’ and ‘milliseconds to decide’. Not the same as your suggestion to employ someone to hospitalise someone you suspect of stealing your stuff.

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

you’ve literally just described a lawless society. Turns out I was right about your news source of choice… To give you a bit of how newspapers like the DM spin things- if a source isn’t named or specified by title, it generally means it’s made up by the journo (as there’s no comeback)...

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

Out of interest, how would you justify not describing these ‘psychos’ doling out beatings with no legal backing as anything other than violent criminals? Also what sort of criminal is worse? A violent one or a non-violent thief? Interested how you square the circle in your own mind

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

Not sure anything in my post would exactly negate that assertion tbh. Equally, I would ask out of interest whether you have proof of that or whether it’s a case of ‘I just know’

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

Lots of police bashing on here with the oft heard refrain of ‘they’d rather be dealing with the wrong language/taking the knee/dancing at carnival (delete as appropriate) which tends to reflect which papers/online you read rather than reality. Closer to the truth is very simply a) the numbers...

    Which anvil?

Re using rail track. I have a piece I bought off eBay years ago. Although you see most people using them set horizontally to give more surface area (and sometimes with the ends ground into rudimentary horn shapes so it looks more ‘anvilly’), the things I’ve read by the most experienced smiths...

    Router advice please....

I have a ferrex (Aldi) that is pretty much the same spec as the very well respected Katsu or the Makita (lower quality than the Makita I’m sure). I managed to mount it upside down in a bit of plastic and use it as a rudimentary table router to accurately edge two 22mm cupboard tops. In terms of...

    Chalk deposit in toilet pan

I live in a high calcium area and have used spirits of salts with great success, but I’m always nervous to leave any strong cleaner for too long in case it etches the porcelain and makes it porous (therefore exacerbating the problem in the long run) Any thoughts?

    Best Xmas present tool wise…

Not vintage, classy or pretty but I’m so delighted with a little Halfords Advanced 40 piece socket set. Halfords Advanced 40 Piece 1/4" Socket Set | Halfords UK Simply because every time I have a little job that’s needs a small socket in the house, it’s out to the shed- hoik out the huge socket...

    Old generator servicing/fixing

Thanks so much everyone. Yes it has a crank handle. I’ll see if I can get hold of a Lister specialist and inspect the fuel system when it’s less brass monkeys out! Given that as I say engines leave me scratching my head, it’s whether it would be worth paying to get it sorted when it’s a nice to...

    Old generator servicing/fixing

Not wanting to hijack the other thread currently running about a Generator advice. That thread reminded me that I bought a Generator for pennies years ago from eBay, partly because it was very nearby and cheap (and I can’t be trusted when that happens) and partly because it’s a diesel generator...

    Rail square reviews

I pretty much do have that product. Aside: the other TSO rail square (GRS-16 PE) is similar but can be used at either end of the cut which may occasionally be useful. If you do get one, then (and this is the rare occasion when the message is ‘buy Festool to save money) when I bought earlier...
