Anyone with big machinery here, willing to help??

Yeah I've emailed about 3 places so far, nothing... I'll try, thanks I have done it in 4 sections to have 'small' enough timber to use my jointer. Still glad I did that, because the main surfaces turned out flat enough, and I used hand plane to chase the impefrections. But the sides are just...

Anyone with big machinery here, willing to help??

    dust extraction

The main advantage here is the canister filter. It let's more air through, due to larger surface area, but also filters better. It's literally win win... At least when talking bag vs canister filter.

    dust extraction

As said above, you will lose some performance with the cyclone, but you also gain other benefits that are worth the trade in my opinion. I've not yet extensively used my extraction, only emptied it like 3 or 4 times..? But I did not find any dust in the bag under the filter at all. So I pretty...

    dust extraction

I think this is made for a proper large chip extractor, not a shop vacuum... But might be worth investing into the extractor, if you buy some more large tools eventually. Jointer, thicknesser, or band saw, to name few. I got this and it works great. If you fancy smaller and cheaper, this would...

    Cast iron corrosion

:D Try painting your table saw or jointer then :D But I can see your point.

    Cast iron corrosion

I got sold when I saw a youtube using this to protect his motorbikes. He talked a bit about this product, where it's used mainly and similar. But he wanted to know how much protection he's actually getting. So he took two simple iron nails from the same box, treated one with ACF-50, left the...

    Cast iron corrosion

I personally bought a litre bottle that came with a small empty hand pump / atomiser. I've used the atomiser on my bike, as it's just too busy place to do with a rag. But on my tools, I just apply with a paper towel or a rag. Works OK. For those new to this product, make sure to shake well...

    Cast iron corrosion

I'm not sure how many people are aware, but this product is a god sent mirracle to prevent any corrosion... ACF-50 - if you can, Highly reccomend to buy. Got to know it through motorbikes, but it was developed for aviation first. It 'soaks' into the metal, kills corosion if present, and...

    Parallel clamp - jaw movement

Good point, if the bar bows towards the wood, and there is negative angle, say 89 degrees, then the one degree or so would net me a square. I'm set on keeping these, see how the glue up goes once I get to it. They claim lifetime warranty, so I can take it back anytime if it doesn't work. Cheers

    Parallel clamp - jaw movement

Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback. Axminster said the same thing, but you never know from a seller, if they just hoping to spare their time and cash, or if that's actually correct. Cheers

    Parallel clamp - jaw movement

Gents, Just got my new clamps from Axminster, and they have a bit of a play with them. They come back to me saying it's 'normal'. What do you guys think? I thought there would be no play in them at all. Pictures from the same clamp. Cheers

Is this Mahogany wood? Also, skirting boards for sale

Looking online, apparently: "The five main groupings (based on heartwood color and weight) for Philippine Mahogany are Light Red Meranti, Dark Red Meranti, White Meranti, Yellow Meranti, and Balau." I've looked those up on the trada wood database. The dark red Meranti looks like the closest...

Is this Mahogany wood? Also, skirting boards for sale

Chaps, I've got two things for you to help me with, please... One, the boards on the first two pics, is that Mahogany? I've got it from an auction, and I'm just not sure. If yes, what's it worth? I have maybe 20 odd boards of it, they are 1m to 2m long, and about 20mm thick, maybe 12cm wide...

    Small Bandsaw

This BS340 Lumberjack looks about the right size. Will probably not get much better for that money. 230mm seems deep enough of a cut. Thanks for the tip. Will probably spend some time looking on the ebay as well.

    Small Bandsaw

Wow, a lot of feedback to go through, thank you all so much. For the questions coming my way: - New or used - I don't mind either, if I knew the machine is "near immortal", I'd be happy with used. More bang for less money. - budget - as I said, I don't want to spend much. I feel like I can...

Axminster Craft AC118CE Cyclone Dust Extractor. Any1 got 1 ?

Yeah I've got this unit. I quite like it. I've just modified it to better resolve the dust collection under the cyclone. I didn't like the bag. I'll upload some pics. Any specific questions, please ask away here or DM.
