List of notable woodworkers who use only hand tools

I also work in apartment with plenty of neighbors around. I managed to make friends with most of them. At least I'm lucky that those close to us are not old and many have children. Still, they might do or say something behind my back... I work in a separate room that was supposed to be...

    Small Bandsaw

I have Record Power BS250 for 5 years or so. There are also other brands with the same look. Sometimes they have different table or different fence and some can be even two speed... Probably they all come from the same factory (from Asia?). It took some time to set it up correctly and to master...

    Small SDS battery drill....

It's a beast! Makita 10.8V version is HR166DZ and for 18V is DHR171Z, choose whatever batteries you have. I have 10.8V version and I'm very impressed by it. It weights only 2.0 Kg and has 1 J impact which is just perfect for my walls, where I drill mostly 8mm holes. Recently also helped a...

    Woodworking Youtubers

When I just started my journey into woodworking 6 years ago, for some reason I assumed that whatever channel I find it is going to teach me something good and right. And arguably, when I knew nothing anybody who is on youtube knew more than I did. However, this approach did mostly disservice to...

Where did the knowledge about the capiron get lost?

That's the problem. It doesn't say how to test the result and which direction to adjust depending on it. I assume, that left for the practice to find out :o So, it was not taught and knowledge was not lost. Everybody had to discover that in practice or apprenticeship. Looks like we are all...

Where did the knowledge about the capiron get lost?

True, it is useful. When it's proven to be useful. I merely remind that it has limitations. It requires a model and should have predictive power. It might be difficult to put numbers on everything, especially on how fibers go in the piece of wood that you are holding. Speaking of a man on the...

Where did the knowledge about the capiron get lost?

That might give absolutely correct answer but so absolutely useless. I have a friend he is mathematician. Solving live problems as min-max problems leads to answers like alpine skiing is not is not effective fun activity - you spend more time waiting for lift and getting up! :D

Where did the knowledge about the capiron get lost?

Not sure if I'm qualified to say something here as I'm beginner internet woodworker, as I taught by internet completely. Thankfully to all that buzz and the people around chip breaker, it didn't take long to see advantages of chip breaker. Not without turning to BU planes at first, but in a few...

Where did the knowledge about the capiron get lost?

I was in the similar position, learning from Internet and such. Even though it is 2015 now, I still was caught by the trap of bevel up planes and no chip breaker hype that was left after decade of blogs and videos left by amateurs, mostly. I'm getting to the bottom of it, but only after spending...
