    Ax ultimate edge/Sorby deluxe/Tormek T4/T8 ?

I have a little pot of water that I dip the tool into every couple of seconds to cool it down if I'm doing a bit of reshaping. Having said that, I usually do the final finishing by hand on a diamond stone.

    Ax ultimate edge/Sorby deluxe/Tormek T4/T8 ?

Haha, I just took the side panel off and left it off. Your solution is a bit more elegant,

    Ax ultimate edge/Sorby deluxe/Tormek T4/T8 ?

Why? Takes me about 10 seconds to change a belt to do what I want to do.

    Ax ultimate edge/Sorby deluxe/Tormek T4/T8 ?

Love my Pro Edge for sharpening, mainly turning tools but use it for chisels, drills and plane irons as well. I usually hand finish chisels and plane irons by hand though. It's also useful for grinding all sorts of bits and bobs.

Opinions on a very small drill ?

If you want quality hex drive bits can I point you to Versadrive bits. They cut cleanly, very fast and last well. But, they're bloody expensive, around £25-£75 per bit! I bought two for a specific job but a full set is around £600.

    Hi guys!

You could do worse than contacting Newton Tesla, they do all sorts of electronics for lathes/mills.

    Hi guys!

What sort of lathe? I replaced the dead motor on my Myford Mystro Mk2 with a matched 3ph motor and VFD from Newton Tesla. Worth looking at their motor/VFD matched packages to give you a nicer turning experience.

Cloned Number Plates...just a word of warning!

I fit trackers on my cars, they're not expensive (about £25) and cost about £4/month subscription. A screen shot when I received a speeding ticket showed my car was about 80 miles away from the site of the alleged speeding offence. Also, whilst the cloned plate was on a Skoda Superb, mine is...

    Myford Lathe

Ah, think mine is a later Mk2 in red with solid banjo. Says 1995 on the nameplate.

    Myford Lathe

I believe Myford did a Mk1 and Mk2 Mystro. The early Mk1 ones were a bit less robust and had a flaky banjo (as did the early Mk2s). The later Mk2s with a solid cast banjo (rather than the two legged ones) were better.

    Myford Lathe

I paid £350 for mine but no tooling came with it. The new motor and VFD were about £400. It is a pretty capable lathe though. If I get round to it I might modify the outboard turning rig to be able to do bigger bowls but who knows?

    Myford Lathe

I've got a Mystro Mk2 as well. The motor died earlier this year so I replaced with a Newton Tesla 2hp 3ph with Mitsubishi VFD. Works really well. The outboard turning option is really useful on larger pieces.

    Any Snap-on experts on here

I've had loads of mechanics tools over the years and they have a fairly hard life for a DIYer. The best I've found are the Halford Professional stuff. Rarely had a breakage and when I have had a problem (with a screwdriver socket losing the little retainer and a ratchet that broke a pawl), the...

    Speed Limit

Interesting yesterday, I was coming back down the A1 from the BTCC meeting at Croft. Set the cruise at 72 (dead on 70 by GPS). I only had to overtake the odd caravan and lorry. Did the same at 75. Only when I set the cruise at 80 did I start overtaking other cars. There were several cars coming...

    Speed Limit

How does one prevent a knife or a chainsaw or any number of things with potential to do harm being used inappropriately? Trust me, a broken neck or fractured skull at 10mph kills you just as well as a broken neck or fractured skull at 100mph.

About 20 years ago my friend's nine year old son was killed by a cyclist riding on the pavement. I've stopped reading newspapers.

    Speed Limit

Pedestrians have been killed by collisions with bicycles. Do you propose banning those as well? You're just as dead at 10mph as 100mph. The loss of responsibility and common sense seems to more of the problem, together with the loss of any ability to risk assess.

Exactly the point I was going to make. The excessive nanny state regulation is why we have instructions on bottles of bleach saying 'do not drink'. Many people seem to have lost the ability to think for themselves.

    Price of Fuel

You've obviously not been on the M62 when the Ouse bridge was closed, roughly 110 miles round trip diversion depending on the south bank end point.

Electric Multi Function Tools the cheaper ones and Gas Central Heating Boilers

I've got an Einhell one that's been really good as well. Got a few of their tools and they're holding up pretty well and not ridiculously expensive.
