    Contact Adhesive for Kids Bedroom

If you are worried about using contact adhesive why not try fish glue. You could drink the stuff and come to no harm :-( It is made from boiling fish skins and shares many of the properties of hide glue except you use it cold. It has a long open time giving plenty of time to align the tiles and...

    Planer Thicknesser

I have now got my new toy and I must say I am very impressed with it. Firstly, Axminsters delivery driver was great, really helpful in getting the machine into the workshop. It took approximately two hours to assemble all the bits and pieces and get it onto the mobile base. The tables were spot...

Sealing End Grain - Picnic Bench

If you have a hot air gun you can brush the epoxy onto the end grain then warm it up with the gun, this will make it sink right down into the grain, keep brushing the epoxy on until no more gets absorbed.

    Planer Thicknesser

Thank you Richard, I do have lots of difficult grain to deal with so I am looking forward to the results. I was very impressed with the Cloud Maple that Peter Sefton put through his machine.

Startrite Tilt Arbor Sawbench - spindle removal

If the penetrating fluid does not work how about heat! When I have some metal that will not budge I get either the hot air gun or the blow torch onto it. First heat it up till its kinhot, count to ten, turn anti a fraction then undo. Works every time providing the heat is not going to damage...

    Planer Thicknesser

I went into the Cardiff Axminster shop yesterday and flexed my card, so I am now waiting with a certain amount of excitement for the arrival of my AT129PT with spiral cutter block. BTW if anybody is interested, they were selling off the display model AT129 with three knife cutter block for...

Ok, just read through the manual and see that it does indeed come with the 16amp plug.

    Planer Thicknesser

Thank you for all your replies and suggestions so far. One more question..... Does this Axminster PT machine come with a blue 16amp plug supplied?

    Planer Thicknesser

Martin, I have looked again at the 129PT and it does indeed tick all the boxes except having an integrated wheel/jockey. What do I need to set up the 16amp supply? I have a spare port on my consumer unit so that is straight forward enough but what do i need in the way of cable and plugs...

    Planer Thicknesser

Thank you custard, I think I would be asking for a bit of money back if I was supplied with that amount of tearout! The Spiral cutter block certainly looks like the future!

    Planer Thicknesser

Mrs. C.Thank you but I can't be doing with companies that do not publish their prices up front. So for me Felder are out.

    Planer Thicknesser

Martin, I looked at the spec for this and saw 3.0 kW so assumed that meant 3 phase!

    Planer Thicknesser

I am in the market for a new planer thicknesser. It will have to be single phase and new, I'm not interested in second hand. I have had a look around and I am leaning toward the Startrite SD31, mainly because I like Startrite machines, it has very good reviews including some from members...

    Grain Filling for Antique Rosewood...

Hi David. I would never use plaster of paris to fill the grain, the colour will eventually blow out and you will be left with a white grain. Rosewood has a cavernous grain and you will need a little patience to fill it. There are many methods to fill the grain and a proprietary grain filler is a...

    Bernzomatic Braizing torch

Ok thanks. That is probably why it was so cheap! I will likely go for a complete kit like this one OXYTURBO TURBO SET 110 - PORTABLE WELDING KIT at least I will have no trouble getting the consumables.

    Bernzomatic Braizing torch

I have just acquired a Bernzomatic OX 5500 braizing torch like this one https://www.bernzomatic.com/Products/Ha ... n/WK5500OX I am finding it difficult to find the gas and oxygen canisters for them. Can somebody point me in the right direction please.

    Vintage Pine Trunk

That is a nice tool box. I think it needs no more than a clean and a wax. If you strip and sand it you will lose all of its colour and patina. If it were mine I would wash it all over with some detergent and 0000 wire wool. If the top has had oil on it you could cover it with fullers earth and...
