So it's back: Britain's Best Woodworker

I just want to see more joinery. For the love of god, please, fewer screws and more joints.

    Danger zone

At least if the saw kicks back, he won't end up with a piece of timber and a few digits embedded into his face. Every cloud eh?

    Laser tool advice

A lot of plasterboards are marked out making it easy to hit the studs. Just remember to be accurate with the studs and mark the floor where they are placed and you should be fine.

Tormek T4 or is it overkill for my needs?

It also depends on how often you need to sharpen? I have always used a diamond stone followed by whetstones but then again I probably sharpen no more than once a month and it only takes me 20 mins in total for all my most used chisels.

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

I wish I had the space but I really need the ability to store it on a shelf and then just drop it onto my worktop when required.

    Benchtop Planer / Thicknesser

Hi, I am looking to purchase a benchtop planer/thicknesser to use at home. It needs to be portable as I have very limited space. I have been looking at the SCHEPPACH HMS860 and also the Titan TTB579PLN. I will be for quite narrow hardwood stock no more than 3 inches. I am guessing that both are...

Never needed a tile bit, always used a standard masonry bit without too much issue.

    Domino 700

Like others have said, the 500 will generally get much more use than the 700 unless you work mainly on larger projects. I only own the 500 but a friend has the 700 which I borrowed once for a large outdoor gate project. The 700 is also a great machine but it is much more unwieldy and I would be...

    UJK Router Elevator Needs Avoiding

I have had great success using a Trend T11 in combination with an Incra LS super system> been using this setup for nearly 5 years with no issues. I find adjusting the Trend a simple process.

Looking to rent a Shaper Origin (or similar)

I received my origin today and have executed a few test cuts and it is ticking all of the boxes so far. I am still getting the hand of it but going to make a few small projects tonight and I will let you know how it goes.

So, do most of you use sketch up for your designs?

I use Sketchup for the majority of my larger projects but I still revert to my A2 drawing table from time to time. It depends on the complexity. Like everyone else for simple projects, the back of an envelope seems to suffice.

Looking to rent a Shaper Origin (or similar)

I've just ordered one that I want to use on some inlay projects including a large wooden floor inlay with a multitude of exotic woods. If its just half as good as I am expecting it to be then it will soon pay for itself. I will give my full feedback as soon as I have experimented with it fully.
