    Another wood idenfication question

20mm is too thin for end grain in my opinion. It will be a lot of work. Generally I use at least 38mm stock for end grain.

Are Scheppach HM254 mitre saws all the same quality depending where you buy them.

I have a HM254. Its a competent machine that performs well. Dust collection lets it down, but apart from that, it does everything I ask of it.

    Workshop Insurance.

Try direct line. I had similar issues insuring my workshop but direct line sorted me out.

Kity k5 spindle moulder and router bits

Some spindle moulders offer attachments that allow router bits, but the issue tends to be that most spindle moulders do not spin fast enough for the standard size of router bits (routers spin much faster than spindle moulders).

    Festool KS60 to 100mm extractor

I'll be honest with you I think you would be better off connecting a Festool extractor to the KS60 as the drop down for 100mm is a considerable drop or even a shop vac with reasonable dust control. I do not own a Kappex (it's on my list, but I'm concentrating on the big shop purchases atm while...

    Axminster or record power P/T

I recently took the plunge and opted for spiral cutters on P/T. Best decision I could have made.... quiet and the finish is a wonder to behold.

Is 12mm workbench top too thin? (Plywood)

12mm would be too thin for most circumstances even with enough underneath support. It ready depends on what you will use the workbench for? If you need the bench to have some weight then it may be better to laminate some softwood 4x2's or even 3x2's.

    New bandsaw advice

Tuffsaws is the place to look for advice when you need blades. Their service is second to none. It is possible to get a good bandsaw for £200, but you will need to be patient, and your best bet would be Facebook marketplace in your local area so you could collect yourself. Typically much...

Parf Guide II for hardwood MFT top

Has anyone used the Parf II system on a hardwood top? I am building a workshop bench with a beech worktop, and I would like to know if the UJK 20MM cutter will likely last for a 1600 x 800 top with 96mm centres or if I should invest in a spare cutter?
