    Workbench top wood selection

Go with beech. Superb wood for workbenches (and nice to work with too) and you can easily get 50mm + thickness

Looking for a Morticer, advice please

I was thinking of purchasing one for bigger outdoor work (I do have both Festool Dominos) simply for more traditional joinery but I’ve just realised I can get an attachment for my Hammer A3 jointer/planer for morticing. Has anyone had any experience with this type of attachment? It would...

    Incra table saw fence compatibility

I am considering fitting one of these onto my Laguna Fusion 3. Is everyone happy with their purchase?

    Manual CNC machine

In all honesty with the amount of work required to engrave ‘paragraphs’ (I am assuming some paragraphs could be quite long) using a small font onto wood… you would be much better getting a used hobby CNC. It depends of course how much you value your time.

Quickest way to stabilise crack in hardwood?

I would personally butterfly it if I was in your situation.

    Angle grinders, managing vibration

I use Makta for wood carving and for general building work and find them ok for prolonged use.

    Heated work jackets

How big is your workshop? I have a 60m2 workshop currently, and I did consider one of these jackets, but in the end I got a small propane heater that I turn on a couple of times through cold days for a few minutes and its enough to bring the temperature up to within a perfect working range.

Festool track saw with scoring blade

I have always had exceptional results from both of my Festool track saws. I would like to know if the results could be improved.

    Another domino thread

I have both, and I purchased the 700 with the view it would completely replace the 500, but it hasn't worked out that way. I love both machines, but the 700 feels too unwieldy for smaller builds, even when equipped with a smaller cutter. My 500 is currently away in France (I am doing a farmhouse...

Compound sliding /mitre saw accurate cuts

The only advise I can offer is sneak up to the final measurement as you will end up with a better fit than any marked line.

    Still learning!

The day I stop learning will be the day I have had to down tools. During EVERY project, I learn something new and it's usually the moment I reflect on 'why didn't I do it like this instead?' :ROFLMAO:

    Sander and dust extractor

If you are doing a lot of sanding, I would also consider the Mirka Deros, as it has a lot less vibration than even my Festool, which was a vast improvement from my Makita. It also gives results that are as good if not better than my Festool, and the dust control is excellent too.

Air Nailers Or Electric nail guns?

Thanks for your opinion. The fact that you had to use a larger battery is a red flag for me. I have 5Ah and 6Ah batteries, but I prefer to use them in my saw or lawn mower! I prefer 3Ah or 4Ah for power tools that I have to lift to use as the added weight starts to tell quite quickly into a job.

Air Nailers Or Electric nail guns?

I've just ordered the 18g, and I will put it through its paces this week. I'll get the 16g if I am happy with the results. I have a complete set of air guns but it's such a faf if I haven't already started the compressor up, especially if I just want a few brads to hold a jig together while I...
