I simply marvel at and are completed gobsmacked by the style, precision and craftsmanship of the various recent items posted, very well done to all concerned
A serious note
I have heard that the shingles vaccination, available for anyone over 70 is meant to be very good in preventing or reducing the impact of shingles, so if you are in that age group it might be worth checking with your GP.
I have used the IIangatwgnedd method for years since being taught this magnetising method in Physics at school.
You can also use it on any conventional screwdriver - only takes a couple of mins. If you want the effect to be stronger then stroke the drive/bit/bit holder on the magnet a little...
A simple solution would seem to be hire a petrol disc cutter (not expensive) for a weekend. Cut a slot/groove say 12" away from the wall or whatever distance is good taking into account the size of the cutter machine. Break up and remove that 12" of concrete (maybe hire a electric breaker as...
If Ive understood the problem correctly then google 120 mm to 140mm fan adapter or duct adapter or even consider a Floplast Underground Flexible adapter might fit, hope Im on the right track.
If it were mine I would unscrew the joint run a little silicone sealant around the mating faces and screw back. If it doesn't unscrew same sealant around the outside.
Hi
It might be a little off topic but Ive made a few desks/worktops for home casual use using legs with metal plates with slots that screw to the underside and the legs screw into this quite substantial metal plate. I bought mine (reasonably priced) from a Swedish based retailer in the uk, other...
A long shot and depends on the goodwill of others
If your able to find who were the architects or builders (or Facilities Management team) I'm sure after a bit of time and convoluted emails/phone calls you should be able to find the door specification and who were the suppliers.
I know this is a lazy way of doing things but my B+Q have a wall mounted saw and will precision cut sheets (no charge), nice finish as well. Makes boards small enough to fit the car - well just about. Fine for odd one off's not in commercial quantity
Hi Looks like a Record RP3000 chuck which uses an elastic band to hold components together while assembling the chuck for use.
Google and should find photos etc
If I'm looking at the right piece of metal - curved with a peg - its used to tighten/remove the chuck from the spindle.
I had one years...
However you go with this I fully recommend using a Megaflow, hot and cold water are at mains pressure and your attic is dry ie no cold or expansion tanks and the such. Had Megaflow for 12 years and no issues
Morning
Have you checked the fuse in the plug? ?
Also checked the the mains socket is still live by plugging in something else?
I don't know this machine but is it possible after trying the above and with the machine unplugged to turn the blades/belt/motor by hand to see if there is a hidden...
Perhaps your last post says it all "Ive got too much regular woodwork........"
If you have sufficient to keep you busy and get a reasonable income it might be worth considering how much of that you would lose (maybe turning regular customers down as well) while you try and get this project good...
Just thought
Axminster used to have a repairs department - if they don't have a new one ask to speak to the repairers as they might have an old one under the bench they might sell as 2nd hand without warranty etc
I'm guessing that the tailstock wheel has a threaded core so I've some ideas that might help.
1. Contact Axminster tools they used to sell Perform lathes
2. Cut the broken part off the wheel retaining the threaded core intact
2. Make another wooden wheel by hand if your turning isn't up to it...
