Where to get 190x24 saw blade?

I guess its a Performance Power saw bought from B+Q, any of the saw blade bore reducers will do - I would go for the Bosch as it should be well made. So you will be ordering a new blade - before you order make sure the outside diameter of the blade is the same as existing blade (so it will fit...

    Blackthorn - not Blackadder :)

I have some Blackthorn thats been growing taller and taller over the last 20 years or so to the extent that the main trunk is now 6" or so in diameter and in the recent wind has fallen sideways (wet ground) from the field adjoining the end of the garden and now I reluctantly need to gradually...

    Help!!! Hornets!!!

Wasp spray onto the nest site and half an hour later spray again, (repeat if needed) spray so the door is behind you so you can back out easily after spraying. If it doesn't work then a wasp nest killer spray such as sold by Dyas Wilko BQ and suchlike or do this first will sort them out.

Truing up a disc grinder - where can I get this machined?

I don't have a dial indicator and for my fiddling with bits and bobs never needed one so the following is from a not engineering background but hope it might help or set a train of thought in a direction. I'm sure you have considered this but when the flange slides onto the shaft is the end of...

Advice needed on old Stanley plane blade retraction

Looking at the ebay pictures the cutting iron/blade appears to be in the correct position i.e. not overly protruding and maybe its your reassembly after fettling is the cause? The following sounds basic (and sorry if its teaching how to suck eggs)----edit ----- more words below the photos but...

Record Power Recall Notice on Lathes

I also had an email from Record but thanks for posting it might be important as this message will reach people who perhaps bought these products 2nd hand and have no link with Record i.e. Record don't know them.

    Quick advice requested

Why not pop out when the council (or their contractors) turn up with their chainsaws if you have preselected parts you need (mark with chalk) I am sure they will trim them off and let you have them its less waste for them to remove. Might need a small donation to the tea fund or a bag of...

    Removing 1mm?

Well here's an idea to consider --- Google small drum sanding kit or Bobbin Sanding sleeves - you can find them quite cheaply from Screwfix and suchlike. Small mandrill fits in a drill with circular rubber drum attached, sandpaper sleeves slide onto the drum. A 19mm one for example should fit...

Bench Grinder for plane blades and chisels

Hi tibi thanks Ive recently started using a strop which in my case is a 80mm wide hardwood offcut with a leather offcut spray glued on top with rough side of the leather upwards. There is a fine leather handbag workshop near me so I bought (very cheaply) an offcut/scrap strip with markings - it...

Blocking a cooker air vent, wasp entry

I can wholeheartedly recommend a wasp nest destroyer foam spray, comes out like shaving foam at force to about 3 metres distant and sticks to the target. Have used it for several years on the variety of wasps and hornets that seem to like our house and nearby hollow old tree. Will sort out your...

Bench Grinder for plane blades and chisels

For what its worth some years ago I bought a Fox Fermi version of the Scheppach, same thing didn't get on with it also a bit flimsy - I ended up with a Record Power WG250 10" the same but better all round. Didn't like it either (the wet stone whetstone are slow) so put it away and used other...

    Mortaring, but upside down?!

I missed it going from 1/2" to 3" - mortar gun will do 1/2" as will external acrylic sealant (paintable) or silicone sealant (not paintable) but not 3" - so as Adam W suggests timber fillet. Perhaps a fillet cut from Celotex insulation board would be a lightweight filler/fillet and maybe easier...
