    Keeper plate needed

So this fits in a slot in the top of the tailstock to hold the quill in position?? Could you have the broken part welded together and then filed smooth to fit again? Ask Record Power if they have one Try a Nova dealer such as Turners-Retreat

My concrete shed (workshop) base floods

I like the resin decking boards idea I can use that on a small shed my son is building. For this problem as suggested above hire a disc grinder and cut a slot and install drainage channel - all the way to the far edge of the 1 metre section at the top of the drawing with a slight fall that way...

New woodworking TV show on BBC2

Yes I watched one programme and occasionally I pondered to myself and how did they do that bit as 10 seconds before it looked wrong and an edit or two later all was well e.g. tambour doors on a sideboard

    Tail stock chuck

Can you identify what make as it is might help. It is definitely a tapered hole? Please advise what is the profile of the revolving centre or whatever fits in the tailstock at the moment as thats a good guide as to what you need. A photo of both items would help if possible

    Onduline roofing...

Used this once on a 8 metres square chicken run roof, did the job fine and as much of the area was open I didn't have to fill in the gap between the corrugations and the batten it was screwed to, spose they make some corrugated fillers to fit the product if you need a seal on your shed/whathaveyou

teknatool Nova 3000 lathe bed extension

As you've found out the belts last ages - I seem to remember there was a little plastic window that you could (try) and see through to see what pulley your belt was using. As you say postage would be HUGE - far more than the cost of the part. Is there a Canadian only site you could post a...

teknatool Nova 3000 lathe bed extension

I sold my Teknatool Nova 3000 lathe some years ago but the purchaser decided he only needed a short lathe so the lathe bed extension stayed with me in dry storage, its unlikely I will ever use it so it will probably go up for sale soon. It’s barely used and in very good condition - adds useful...

    Bolts on Internal Doors

Ive recently fitted to the top only on my sons internal French doors - the side thats rarely opened - no rattle when both shut from draughts or when the front door is open so try the top only and if you find you need one at the bottom fit it. If aesthetically it looks wrong without a bolt on...

Seeking some history of Swearby Sheffield Chisel's

Thank you folks interesting - Its a bit strange that so many small edge making firms that were based in Sheffield just disappeared without much trace, perhaps they just ceased trading or merged with another similar firm and went that way. Time travel there for a day or so would be quite...

Seeking some history of Swearby Sheffield Chisel's

So I have come across a really nice 1" tapered former chisel made by Swearby, its a name I have heard previously but this time I googled around to find something about the, history and suchlike. Failed miserably all I came across was a few chisels for sale and and some tools I swear by! If...

    Weeds etc

About the use of glyphosate and diluting to 40:1 - I asked a supplier if I used it neat would it work better, was advised using it neat will form crystals and it wont be absorbed into the plant, a diluted mix will be absorbed in the same way as rainwater gets into plants.

    Blackthorn - not Blackadder :)

Thanks folks -I have made sloe gin before superb re the wood now its down still in one "trunk" although not straight for the full length maybe I should cut it into 3 foots or so and seal the ends and get round to it in due course it will still be green though.
