    Newbie + a question

Ahh ran off a wall spur (or is that a fib and there is a fault ?) not a 13A plug - I think ring mains can carry 32A. Spurs are usually fused at 13 amp the same as a plug An electrician would be able to advise if its possible/safe to install a spur off your ring main but would need to be unfused...

    Newbie + a question

I don't know enough about electrics to provide a definitive solution but Norton said its the fuse in the 13a plug that blows NOT the rcd in that case I fail to see how an upgrade from his normal domestic power supply will make a difference. Norton - you say that without the blade it works well...

I'm in the process of acquiring a Tyme Cub, haven't seen it yet but its said to be working and in need of a fair amount of TLC. All of the above info will be useful but does anyone have a manual please? Edit - subsequently lathe is now with me, the cable looks as if it has been nibbled by...

Woodworking Bench - Advice & ideas

At one time I had a workbench top made from a solid fire door with varnished mdf on top, the legs and the rest of it came from 2x4 joists from a demolition site. So if budget is an issue see if you have a demolition yard near you might be worth a look.

What sort of wood will you be using? btw just noticed you are in Italy so my Screwfix comment doesn't apply unless they are outside the UK as well.

Observations A wooden one needs a little more care in setting up, a metal one is just wind the adjusters A Veritas depending on model is towards £100 or so at Axminister's shop I think the size of the blade is pretty standard not seen a smaller size for general use This could be an expensive...

Unless you want to be picky Screwfix sell both types for £16 or £19 pounds (no postage as you can collect) either will sort out the makings for a hammer handle.

Chisels - I could quit if I wanted.

I've found that the drill mixer combo can put air/bubbles in the paint so It's stir by hand with a flat wooden spatula for the right size tin gets to the bottom and mixes in the good stuff at the bottom for me. Masonry paint yes get one of the long metal jobbing and put it in your drill

    Cheap wood (mainly soft woods)

Well phill05 brought back a memory from about 1970 and thank you. My father wanted a shed but no money, he travelled to and from Croydon daily in his Morris Minor Estate and passed Collins Glass (South Croydon) who were wholesalers where glass was delivered in long packing cases with a timber...

Is this a fair price for oak boards?

If the quality matches your expectations then go for it as the cost of shopping around/petrol /carriage will quickly swallow up any potential savings of buying elsewhere.

A slightly different take The joy of and making something, irrespective of the source of the material whether it be timber plaster wool cotton and et al. is the pleasure of the maker, is a wonder to behold

Pop quiz, spot what the issue is... and the fix

I'm a bit confused so I need to read it again again - could you have got the same result by filling the previously drilled holes with a some dowel then just re drill with the flat bit to get the countersunk portion then drill the rest through with a standard drill bit?
