    sharpening turning tools

Flat bevels or concave bevels? When I was a young teenager and started turning I didn’t know there was a difference. Now I rarely turn but know a fair bit about grinding bevels on other cutting tools so have wondered if the final geometry makes a big difference?

Running cables behind dot and dab plasterboard?

I have run a bit of cable behind plasterboard and each time I’ve ended up with multiple holes along the route that needed repairing. You can’t tell now as it’s fairly easy to patch but it is still a hassle.

I bet it would be easier than what you’re hoping to do.

Running cables behind dot and dab plasterboard?

I haven’t used one or seen one in person. This looks promising though. Seems too good to be true?

    How would you fix this?

Yes, the spindle. Early morning brain fog - I couldn’t think of the correct name! Just ensure that the spindle is orientated so that the grub screw sits in the dipped side of the groove so that it spreads correctly.

    How would you fix this?

There’s also a style of handle where the square bar has a split in each end then a grub screw in the handle tightens into that split, effectively making it work as a through bolt. Pretty effective.

    Bandsaw bearings

Wouldn’t a smaller thrust bearing diameter mean that you definitely wouldn’t be able to have it touch the back of the blade though? Easy enough to try though - just buy a spare and pop it in a drill and file the edge to a smaller diameter.

    So cut the bolt shorter?

    Bandsaw bearings

So you could move the housing forward a bit on the steel bolt to stop the rubbing or cut the bolt shorter as there’s a fair bit of excess.

    Bandsaw bearings

    You’ll need to adjust both.

    Bandsaw bearings

You’re talking about something different to what I’m asking about. I’m talking about the bits in the pic I posted.

    Bandsaw bearings

And the peg for the bearing that goes into the bar is central? It would make sense that one is offset. Pics of both would be good.
