Moving to Brazil: selling up or using a portable power station?

Nowt to do with your power question, but as an aside, my best pal moved to Manaus having married a Brazilian girl. His main complaint about the place was that anything metal - including his favourite guitar's strings and pickups - rusted so quickly, it was hard to keep up with replacements....

    Little b45t4rd5 on e-scooters...

My money's on "plain stupid". Unfortunately, he's already sired a child, who may well grow up and stick two fingers up at common sense and the law of the land.

Petrol Lawnmowers - new vs old

Just had a gander at the youtube ad for my Webb.... Interestingly, it claims to be able to cut "knee-high" grass courtesy of the side discharge chute. Not tried it, mind, but that's the claim! I suppose it depends on how long your legs are!

    Little b45t4rd5 on e-scooters...

Been out with my trusty Labrador earlier, and had to get out of the way of 2 teens on one e-scooter. On the pavement - which is an offence - and they made it quite clear that we were going to have to get out of their way... The Lab reacted as you'd expect, and had a bark at them as I ushered him...

    Been on a killing spree....

Except slugs and snails love 'em! We can't win! Do you get the impression that someone, somewhere, is trying to tell us something?! Anybody here tried using nematodes yet?

    Been on a killing spree....

"Can you check my cauliflowers, please?" said head office, as she spotted me wandering round the garden yesterday. "We" have a VegTrug, a fancy-ar5ed, expensive way of having a raised bed. Let's just say that it wasn't me who bought it.... I don't grow veg. I'm too busy to bother, but my better...

Petrol Lawnmowers - new vs old

Aspen boasts 3-5 years storage without it degrading/separating. I understand that the usual 4* unleaded stuff from your petrol station starts to "split" after as little as 6 weeks...

Petrol Lawnmowers - new vs old

I bought a Webb 46cm petrol job a couple of years ago. Nice machine, but a bit fast for my legs! Knowing that most petrol mowers suffer with carb problems eventually, my Webb has only had Aspen fuel in it from day one. Pricey, yes, but has done the trick. Starts first time, every time.

    Joke Thread II

Could be worse, matey! My wife used to describe me to her mates as being just like George Clooney. From the back.

Hey, paulrbarnard.... Is your ID photo Ted Moult of yesteryear? (Thinks - is that showing your age, or mine?!)

    Sir Paul

If you thought Mecca was bad, you better not listen to Diana Ross! Dear oh dear....out of tune, out of time. Rest on your royalties!

    Grrrrrrrrrrr....lla glue

Had a little job to do this afternoon, hunted for - and found! - the bottle of Gorilla Glue. Incredibly strong. 100% waterproof. For the Toughest Jobs on Planet Earth.... It's been down in the cellar for a couple of years, since I last used it. You don't use a lot, so it's virtually full. It's...

    A bumper year for apples

Thanks for your thoughts, Seascaper. I see your point, so I scraped back some of the compost/soil this morning, only to find that the top of the root system was barely an inch below the soil level in the photo, so I'm none the wiser! What I did do, however, was cut back the two circa-4 foot...

Good thinking! I'm no David Bailey, so hopefully this will clarify matters.

    A bumper year for apples

I was hoping that one/some of you might throw some light on my apple tree "problem", please? My beloved ordered one of those smartypants "duo" trees at the end of last year - Bramley and Braeburn. Obviously one's grafted on the other, but I couldn't tell you which way round.... Anyway, this...

    Generator question...

Ha ha! Might well be the answer! (Thinks - why the advice about level ground anyway?!)

    Generator question...

I remember paying perhaps half that! I think something had happened to Wolf just before - gone wallop? Into administration? - so perhaps I bought it from the receiver or similar? Somewhere around Mansfield, maybe...it's a good few years ago anyway. Have stripped the carb a couple of times...

    Generator question...

I've got a Wolf 1200 2.5hp just like the one featured on this : https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/42519/wolf-1200 Courtesy of a 10 hour powercut on Friday evening, I had the 'pleasure' of firing it up again, the first time in quite a few months. Luckily it's loaded with Aspen...
