Not forgetting the Royal Mail wonder. You can track it once it's in your hands...

    R.I.P Kris.

Yes...and he managed to wed Rita Coolidge as well, the lucky pig. In her late 70's now, but still stunning.... She could've had me if she'd played her cards right....

Each to their own, as they say?!

That's true. I had some plans for a chevalet at some stage, and was going to ask our local carpenter/furniture boy to price it up....but never got round to doing so. I suspect it would be frightening, and anyway, I haven't the room for one. There was another reason, come to think...but she's in...

    An interesting viewpoint... https://hellerandhellerfurniture.com/2023/07/14/the-best-scroll-saw-for-marquetry/

    Joke Thread 5

Someone has come up with the solution of the OAP fuel allowance problem, and the UK housing shortage. Send all the pensioners to the "pre-paid" Rwanda for the heat, and free up all their property back home.

    Veneer press?

Just to ramble on about using granite/marble offcuts, they're also handy for flattening burr veneers and the like, and of course are also a great flat surface for sharpening, etc. When I mentioned getting offcuts, these are two of the recent ones....each is a full 30mm thick, and I've put the...

    Brownie points, boys...

Meter readings today or tomorrow, boys, to avoid getting (even more) clobbered by Tuesday's fuel price rises....

    A moan about my saw....

Ain't that the truth. There are certain brands of guitar that have the truss rod adjustment at the body end of the neck/fretboard as opposed to the headstock. To adjust, you have to invariably separate the two parts, before re-attaching and checking again. If still wrong/worse, repeat the whole...

    A moan about my saw....

No, mate! We've been here before! I used to have one like the Magnetal vibro job, in bright orange. We had a "conversation" about it some months ago, when I was trying to find out why the electromagnet didn't work properly. I'd had it for years, but eventually gave it up as a bad job and...

    Veneer press?

I'm lucky enough to live near an outfit that makes kitchen (?) worktops, granite or marble. They leave their offcuts outside their factory in Sheffield, for anyone who's strong enough to lift 'em!

    Veneer press?

I've just bought one of the Thin Air jobs. Their idea uses a hand pump as opposed to an electric one, but works on the same principle. Had to pay and wait for delivery from France, as the UK agent didn't even reply. As I wanted something for relatively small jobs, I've gone for the basic 2'...

    A moan about my saw....

Out of "devilment" (Ha!) I tried to fit a 6/0 blade last night. There's absolutely no way I could actually use one - I had enough trouble figuring out which side was toothed, let alone fitting it! There's 45 minutes of my life I'll not get back... Understanding that these saws were much-loved...

    A moan about my saw....

Yup...M4 by my reckoning. Unfortunately, room round the bottom clamp is a bit tight for butterfly wingnuts, but the top might be OK. It's tightening the bloody things, that's the problem - holding the allen key, the blade steady and that cursed minute L-shaped piece all at the same time....

    A moan about my saw....

Is what not obvious?! It wouldn't be as bad if it boasted wingnutted (is there such a word?!) bolts instead of the ludicrous grub screws!

    A moan about my saw....

I bought this.....thing.....a few months ago because I fancied having a go at pad marquetry as opposed to the scalpel/window method I've used for years. I understood that scrolling - as all things - needs practice, and that the required skill wouldn't come overnight. That much I expected and...

    New scam text...

Well, new to me anyway. Supposedly from the DVSA, advising that I haven't paid my "ticket in the stipulated time". Car banned from the road from tomorrow, and my parking ticket will be transferred to the court. Interestingly, it appears that the DVSA has moved location and are using a German...
