Thanks again, MikeK. Good of you.

    Sorry. Yet another boiler thread....

Crikey! Thanks a lot, chaps! Some interesting stuff in there! I thought MikeK's earlier posting was so similar, I could've written it, so I grabbed my copy of the brochure and studied the description of the appliance diagram. PRV... I can see a Pressure Gauge...I can see an Expansion Relief...

    Joke Thread III

I've got a mate who was eating less and less meat over the past few years, and was in danger of becoming a full blown veggie. I decided to have a serious talk with him. Pleased to say that after a good long chat, I've managed to turn a Quorner!

    Sorry. Yet another boiler thread....

The continuing saga of my Vaillant Ecotec Pro 28 boiler. Mentioned before on this esteemed site, but I'd value your thoughts on this quandary...but please, no witty quips like "change your plumber" or "should've bought an X..." Some general info : Fitted circa 6 years ago, had both PCB's...

    This morn's interesting postbox...

Not to depress you too much, but my m-i-l's probate job took 6 months and cost a grand plus!

    Have you noticed....

    Pardon?

    Running out of time...

"Seven sixes, 42 pence, 3 and 6." Oh God! I thought I was back in the classroom!

    This morn's interesting postbox...

Ah, yes. The "**** in a box" kit. It's the little swizzel stick that bothered me, although in years gone by it used to resemble a chip shop fork... :giggle:

    This morn's interesting postbox...

What fun we have! So you're about out of time; I've got to start wearing specialist Y-fronts, my feet are spreading so I need special footware, and if all else fails, get a mobility scooter! Luckily the Coopers book will include easy-to-use-for-old-duffers hedge trimmers, and I'll have plenty...

    This morn's interesting postbox...

Courtesy of the Easter break, we had a varied collection of communication this morning.... A Coopers of Stortford catalogue. All those things that you didn't know you needed, and probably don't. A Damart catalogue. Vests, pants, extra thick thingies to keep you extra warm in case you didn't...

    Veneer punches.

The problem with these is the user! Because you barely scratch the veneer surface each revolution - and you haven't a fortnight to spare! - you tend to increase the weight on the cutter arm, which makes it wander/bend slightly. Once you've 'broken through' you have a beveled edge - no bad thing...

    Joke Thread III

I submitted a joke on here a while ago, the punchline being "And if you think you're putting that in my ear you've another think coming!" It didn't get past the forum censor....

    Veneer punches.

This thread's really stirred up some memories! This was regarded as the marqueteurs 'Bible' at the time, written by William Lincoln. Autographed hard back in this case. Edit - just a thought for the original poster...might be worth contacting the Marquetry Society for some advice re your...

    Veneer punches.

Crikey! Ulmia! Yes, I'd forgotten about them! A German outfit as you say, long gone methinks. I remember ordering a cutter from them - this would be '90, maybe, just at the start of the recession - and my wife finding out how much it had cost. "Impressed" she was not! We'd only been trading for...

Haven't exactly pushed the boat out!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-65233729 Is that the best 'lectern' (?) design they can come up with?! For all the world it looks like 3 pieces of MDF butt-jointed together! (Apologies! Duplicate posted accidently in Joinery & Cabinet section)

    Have you noticed....

...the number of cars flying round with defective lights? Do the boys in blue ignore it these days? In the last few weeks I've seen dozens of vehicles with only one headlight working, and a fair number with both lights operational but one of 'em is either stuck on full beam or is so out of...

    Veneer punches.

I ran a marquetry business from an arts and crafts studio years ago - pictures, furniture and the like. Never used a punch of any type. Carefully prick out the shape required using a Swann Morton scalpel, using the hole sides as a template. Cut from one side, insert 'upside down'.

    Joke Thread III

A bloke's just approached me on the street and asked if there was anywhere nearby where he could buy a toupee. I thought for a second. "Not off the top of my head, no...."
