    "How to?" indeed!

Bought this set of mini-drill bits a couple of weeks ago...0.3mm up to 1.2mm. I'm sure that some of 'em will come in very handy, especially when I figure out how to open the case! No sign of hinges as such, so could it be a sliding top? If it is, it's a bloody good fit! I've been "at it" for...

    Dremel clone adaptor?

You're firing on all cylinders tonight, Chai! Excellent ideas.... definitely worth a shot. Thanks! And yes, I've bought a few things from StewMac over the years - all good quality in the main. I did think about their "Safe-T-Planer" some years ago, until I read a few expert woodworkers comments!

    Dremel clone adaptor?

ChaiLatte did make a good point, Phill05, and got me thinking whether it's a bridge too far. I'll explain... It isn't a Dremel, first of all. It's a Maplin's "clone", a mini-grinder N17QN. No doubt it's a badged something, but I can't tell you what and obviously I can't ask them now! (Had to...

    Dremel clone adaptor?

"With this adapter, you can attach your Dremel (M19x2) to your milling machine with 20mm diameter tensioning clips." Any seller in the UK?!

    Pull-saws at lidl

That would explain it, then! I thought they were newly released... I do recall seeing a few f-clamps there if you're wanting any more! Had to smile as I wandered along, saw a shelf-edge-label stating "Japanese knives"....they were wallpaper scrapers!

    Running out of time...

Very sad today. My best friend, my best mate, my chocolate lab, was put to sleep this morning. I mentioned him in my original post, fearing he wouldn't see another Christmas, let alone his 11th birthday. Unfortunately, I was correct. I've not shed this many tears for many, many years. Bye, pal.

    Oscillating spindle sander sleeves...(phew!)

Hadn't thought of the cleaner...yes, that's a good idea - thank you! Actually the unit is in bits as I write - it certainly spins, but there's no up-and-down movement, so I'm just looking at the drive belts...there's a separate cog (which I think must be involved with the vertical stuff) driven...

    Oscillating spindle sander sleeves...(phew!)

Bought a portable Triton job some time ago, and finally got around to actually using it (!) a few days ago. It looks as if the "free" sleeves included are 80 grit boys, and seeing I'm a newcomer to using the machine, I thought it a good idea to splash out on a range of sizes/grits so I could...

    Laptop "repair"?!

Yep - you're right. August bank job. What with our Lab an' all that, it'd completely slipped my mind. Considering they don't even open on Saturdays - and close for an lunch hour during weekdays! - there's no way they'll be open on Monday. Tuesday it is....

    Laptop "repair"?!

Finally got around to having a proper look at the HP yesterday : we lost our beloved Labrador at the beginning of the week, so what with vet visits and the eventual end, it's been a very emotional and busy time. It turns out that not only have we a laptop in three bits, all the connecting case...

    Laptop "repair"?!

Yes, it already had an SSD. It failed, and now it has a new one. However, what it hasn't got is the new battery which we paid for. Visiting the shop tomorrow to argue this out, probably before contacting the local Trading Standards outfit....

    Laptop "repair"?!

Well, to be equally fair, they broke it and expected me to pay for it! If they were aware of supposed weaknesses, they shouldn't have accepted the bloody job! I've found out tonight that they haven't fixed the touch pad either, and to cap it all, when I powered it up, i got the message saying...

    Laptop "repair"?!

Dropped my wife's HP pavilion laptop into our local repair shop about 3 weeks ago, wondering if the fan was dirty and/or worn out. Few days later we were told that it wasn't the fan, but it was the HDD. We OK'd a new one, and then heard zilch until we chased them. They were concerned about the...

    Elbow Grease...

Bit of a daft one, this - Elbow Grease, a solvent-free all purpose degreaser. Use on Fabrics, metals, plastics....but in the small print, "not suitable for wood". Well, I used it on a painted wooden window cill, and have to say that it worked brilliantly, even lifting the nicotine/tar/smoke...
