Help me find a new utility knife

Ye Gods, man! Spalted birch handles?! Whatever next?! Zircon-encrusted toilet roll holder?! Gold-plated toilet?! Is this what we can expect from residents of Herefordshire?! We know where all the money is, don't we?! p.s. Lend us a tenner, willya? ;)

Help me find a new utility knife

Yes, mine's like an old friend....had it, used it, for well over 20 years. In fact, it's even got a slight wear-relief on one side! Mine's naked, though! None of yer puffy hockey stuff! We're reight 'ard upt'North!

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

I would think that was the norm, to be honest. I had stuff nicked out of an outbuilding some years ago, and although it was physically attached to the house, it wasn't covered.

Help me find a new utility knife

Described as "ultra sharp"....and yes, they are! In truth I'd probably use the Olfa for marquetry, but I'm too used to the old-fashioned, less bulky S-M handle. It's a toss-up which is sharper, a pukka scalpel blade or the black Olfa. All I remember is that the black jobs taper from about...

Help me find a new utility knife

My weapon of choice is the Olfa L5-AL X design, which can use their "special" black blades. I thought my old Stanley knife blades were sharp until I tried these.... However, for marquetry I still use my old brass handle Swann-Morton, with 10A blades. You can still find 'em on eBay now and then....

Workshop burgled, now my tools are on eBay

There is another side to this, depending on when the eBay listing expires - I could innocently buy one of the items. If the item is (eventually) proved without doubt to be yours, you are still the legal owner. I lose the item, and my purchase money to boot. Yes, I would be bitter about it, even...

    Wooden plane finish (again)

Considered Rustin's "Plastic Coating"? Dries clear, and in the right hands, gives an amazing finish....

    Have any dumb dreams?

You mean that M&S in Carmarthen? Yes, it does have glass walls. And yes, we all saw you..... And now we're all having nightmares! :giggle:

    " Pooh Sticks"

Always said that the best thing I bought when I moved house 20odd years ago was a set of drain rods.... :)

    Wood floors and draughts?

30?! Jeez! Am I glad I haven't got your next bill! I actually love the idea - and look - of real wood floorboards. In reality, having lived next door to a female in heeled shoes, they are an awful idea....

    " Pooh Sticks"

A chance to repeat one of my favourite put-downs... "Oh him?! That bloke's as thick as a Boxing Day tuuurd....." :giggle:

    Travel Tool Chest / Workbench

Beautiful result, and superb idea originally. If mine, I wouldn't dare actually use it....

    Bloody cold shed!

Yes, it seems this thread has got a little wayward! And as for argon-filled double glazing...well! Just to get back on track, this is a remote 6'x6' shed, no windows, no mains power. It's storing stuff - some electrical, but not power tools - that I haven't room for anywhere else. It has a tiny...

    Bloody cold shed!

No, never mentioned machinery. What I wrote was "If I did need proper power for something it'd have to be an extension cable....." There is, I suppose, room to use some hand tools, but not much else. It's essentially storage for stuff that I'm unable to room elsewhere, but I don't want it to...

    Bloody cold shed!

Very generous of you - thanks! - but no easy way of powering them unfortunately. No - it appears my options are limited to insulation, as many of you have pointed out above. I'll be rescuing the spare SuperFoil from the attic and searching for the staple gun. (Now....where have I put that...

    Bloody cold shed!

No, clogs, no mains power. Work in there? It's only 6x6 don't forget! If I did need proper power for something it'd have to be an extension cable from the house. It's essentially storing a few bits and pieces that I can't keep anywhere else...

    Bloody cold shed!

Well, there's enough **** about these days! :giggle:

    Bloody cold shed!

Yes, I knew it really....just thought someone might've had a bright and lazy idea! Got a spare roll of superFoil in the attic...might have to set to with that and the staple gun. Just means taking all the LEDs down first....
