    British Sumer Time Note

Worked on the roofs (slating) for over 25 years, the amount of available daylight doesn't change with the clocks, just adjust your working hours if you need to and leave the clocks alone. And anyway, winter time is not daylight saving time - in the winter we revert to GMT, which is what the...

Then it's fulfilled that purpose rather well, with me at least!

    British Sumer Time Note

Someone once pointed out that to take an hour from the start of the day and tack it on to the latter half in the belief it would make the day longer was remarkably bloody stupid... I'll never understand why we can't just stick to GMT year round.

    Home to roost

I live a few miles form there. Silly thing is, you can no longer buy stone from the quarry - the chap who owns it apparently comes down a few times a year and gets some bit, takes them back up to Northampton (I think) and you have to buy from there. I got a good supply years ago when I took...

    Home to roost

Not a particularly recent bit, I made this for my Mum's 80th and it's been with her ever since, but now she's coming home to stay with us, we got reunited, so I took some pics. Lime, stainless steel and Polyphant stone. For scale, the stainless rod is 6mm diameter.

    Anybody own a holiday let?

The problem with increasing the amount of council tax paid is that it just makes a second home more aspirational - a bit like having a Ferrari parked on your drive shows off how much you're worth - far better to just ban the practice outright and increase the availability for the locals.

A little truth for a change.

More political convenience, I would have thought.

    Anybody own a holiday let?

Any idea who owns them? Or for that matter, how many holiday/second homes there are? I'll warrant it's significantly more of the latter. And just because there are two problems, it doesn't make one of them morally acceptable.

A little truth for a change.

I think you may be missing the point - 15 minute cities aren't supposed to give you everything you want, they're supposed to give you everything you need - you don't need a cinema. There is however, nothing to stop you travelling to a cinema a bit further away. It's not like you wouldn't be...

    Anybody own a holiday let?

Probably going to get battered for this, but IMHO, there should be no such things as holiday lets or "second homes". All they effectively do is put up the prices of property and take housing stock out of the housing stock, if you see what I mean. I have no problem at all with people owning...

A little truth for a change.

I lived in a town for a long time, hated it. I do live in the countryside with no vehicle, and no public transport, though I do have a living. Luckily, the missis has a car, but if she hadn't, I'd get a bike. I just hate having no space around me and people in the way - god, I hate people...

Maybe not a university, but everything else should be fairly easily achievable. Still wouldn't want to live there personally though...
