    Exploding Pagers - Lebanon

There seems to be a habit of thinking that being against Israel's way of prosecuting war in Gaza is "anti-Semitic", not "anti Israeli policy" - the two are not interchangeable. There are many Jews who disagree with Israel's war in Gaza - should we call them anti Semitic?

Is this getting a bit out of hand? - RSV jabs

Jacob, I have to wonder: Given that you accept your style of argument only puts people's backs up and never changes their minds on anything, why do you persist? Surely if you actually wanted to win the argument, a more reasoned and reasonable approach would do the job better? Or given your...

Kind of with you on that, though I'm not anti vaccines as a rule. It would be interesting to see how the relevant people came to the conclusion it was worth the money - a cost/benefit analysis would be interesting - it may work out cheaper than treating the "mild cases"...

Strikes me you're looking for reasons to stick with ICE, rather than looking for the opportunities presented by an evolving situation. Insurance is higher for EVs, I grant you, but that cost is much more than offset in cost per mile travelled for the average user. We have a tariff that changes...

    Electric vehicles

The insurance issue has not been true for us. We do probably 100 miles a day - charge at night, always much cheaper than fossil. EVs are coming down in price. EVs are usually given a thorough going over before resale, so the battery condition is known to a new owner. Having had a shunt in...

    Electric vehicles

Most people at the bottom of the pile right now who own cars, own second-hand cars - why would that change when the majority of second-hand cars become EV? Even at this point in their adoption, I've never in my life owned a new car, but we're currently on our second EV...

    Electric vehicles

Except of course for the increased amount of material in a heavier car - it all has to come from somewhere and the amount of energy used to actually make the car in the first place is very significant.

Ta! She is, 93 and stubborn - if she'd listened to me earlier in the day, she would have had a quick visit from the local GP and we wouldn't have had to waste the time of an ambulance crew, but she wouldn't give in until too late in the day. Lesson learned: next time I'll override her!
