    Vinyl a - removing scratches?

Thanks for that. I did google and found lots of hits. Too many in a way.... and most of the products seem to be nade on the other side of the pond, so difficult and expensive to obtain. I was hoping that someone here had first-hand knowledge and advice. Seems that it is a common problem...

    Vinyl a - removing scratches?

Hi guys - the vinyl floor covering in the bathroom is scratched. Is there a simple way to repair it? The flooring is click-together and extends under the wall-boards so removing and replacing would not be practical. Any and all ideas gratefully received. Thanks Phill

    Bump

It means 'move this post to the top of the list and alert people to the fact that the item is still for sale'. (or 'I have nothing significant to say and no-one is interested in buying but I will try again') Phill

    Patching a concrete floor

The gap is under the bath where it is, not where it will be - if that makes sense. The new bath will be at 90 degrees to the old one, and likely will be one of those free-standing sorts. So the floor needs to be 'made up'. Good thought though. The cement backer board may be a good idea...

    Patching a concrete floor

Just done the job. What a weird way to work. Mix it, pour it, let it level itself (I checked first that the edges of the hole were level). A bit expensive, and 40kg only just filled the hole. It might need a final skim before the flooring is laid, but for now it worked a treat and at least...

    Patching a concrete floor

One of the products offered by Jewson even recommends that you do so for deep areas. I lack the confidence to do so it is going to be difficult enough to mix up the right amount to fill the odd-shaped gap

    Patching a concrete floor

Thanks StuartPaul, I did not realise that self levelling compound could be that thick - the YouTube videos concentrate on thinner skims. With no Screwfix nearby I might have to go to Jewson, but they do this: https://www.netweber.co.uk/tile-fixing- ... level.html which says up to 30mm. 0.75"...

    Patching a concrete floor

Hi all, We have (at long last) started on the bathroom. We have a number of 'opportunities to learn'. First off is how to patch the concrete floor. The bathroom was originally three areas: a spur off the hall (quarry tiles) a toilet room (wood block) and a bathroom (woodblock). The main...

    Toilet syphon

Thanks for the tip. I have ordered similar from ebay. If I had ordered everything at once I could probably have found a better deal, but the total cost for parts and tool is running at about 30gbp - far less than a call-out, and I get to learn something new. I may have a doughnut too many...

    Toilet syphon

Thanks, ordered one of those too. You guys are amazingly helpful. My first though on approaching the job was 'oh turd'. I now have ordered the tools and parts and feel a fair bit more optimistic.

    Toilet syphon

Overflow height ~8" Top of existing syphon ~10" Distance from top of syphon to underside of lid ~1" So a 9" will work? What is a 'doughnut seal'

    Toilet syphon

Do all syphons fit all cisterns? If so I can order one on ebay before dismantling the cistern...... (Looking at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DERWENT-MACDE ... SwaB5XoLu1)

    Toilet syphon

Cistern needs removing (drat) - to remove the cistern I have: (1) two wingnuts, one seized (2) two pozi screws into wall - one with head stripped (3) plumbing pipe with water inlet - standard brass screw fitting, but thankfully a service 'stopcock' 1: WD40 on the wingnuts (wont be doing job...

Thanks, That does look good - might even help SWMBO to open tight jar lids. Ordered one from ebay as the postage was cheaper.
