Sorry.....
They do look nice (Apple are really a hardware manufacturer with an operating system). The Apple ecosystem is a bit of a walled garden but they play nice (and simply) within the garden. I love the all-in one lack of wires, and the 5k screen is so nice on the eyes for a whole day...
That is an excellent description. I had picked up most of that information on my travels, but to see it clearly laid out in one place makes it all clearer somehow.
I am not sure that Apple represents the best value-for-money, but 600gbp gets you onto the bottom, rung: iMac | Refurbished iMac | Hoxton Macs - second hand, sure, but I got mine second hand 3 years ago and it is still a fine machine......
The trouble is that 'science' is more than just 'a thing'. There is the 'scientific method' which is 'get some evidence to support or discount you assertions'. In other words a statement is only useful if it is falsifiable. Can you devise an experiment that will clearly show whether the...

So.... we understand the universe so well that only 85% of it is unexplained. Hmmmm
OK what about energy?
Wikpedia.
Well that is more reassuring - only 69% of energy is unexplained. Anyone get the feeling that we don't really know and don't want to admit it?
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving, and revolving at 900 miles an hour.....
As for guesswork v science: Science is our current best explanation for the phenomenon we observe based on some root assumptions:
The universe behaves in a consistent manner across time and...
I lived in and near Aberdeen for four years. On the longest day it was light enough to read a newspaper outside at midnight. On the shortest day you could need your headlights on all day, depending on the weather. That aside, lovely people. I would have stayed except there was no work for me.
I had this one some time ago.... it is brilliant. It selects for people stupid enough to have already fallen for a scam;

I retrained into programming/software engineer etc in my early 30's. Best move I made. But I was a keen enthusiast before that so it was a lot easier decision.
I have been playing with sketchup - getting some ideas. Does anyone know if a staircase in a kitchen is allowed? I could imagine it falling foul of safety rules.
I remember when we were house hunting. Some properties were described as 'architect designed' (as opposed to what? designed by a school teacher?). They were the least suitable of the houses that we looked at. Some were butt-ugly, some were poorly laid out. We ended up discarding anything...
Thanks. We need to do the thinking bit first. What do we really want? Not allow one job to trigger the next because it seems to make sense.
That all said we have a reasonable area in a corner of our house if we combine kitchen, stairs, hall cupboard, back passageway. Tempting to see what we...
Thanks HOJ, Lots of information to digest there. We need to think through our requirements a bit more before we make any plans. This was all started by 'we need to get this fixed' which led to 'but while that is being done it would make sense to get that done'. Then 'if we are doing that...
That is very useful information - thanks. 'Interior Architect' sounds about the level I would want to start at. Finding one round here would be the next problem.
Point taken - I should not generalise from insufficient data......
Yes, and where can I find one like her?
That feels a bit cheeky and presumptuous, but if folk want a look then I will see if I can find my old 3d models (or failing that I will sketch some more).
